Anyone with any experience with R Lauren's "Purple Label"?

Ralph Lauren has some pretty high priced swag. Mostly pre-distressed, leather jackets manufactured in China. Just curious if anyone here's ever gone that route and how did they find the product. This is NOT troll bait. I'm just trying to see how they stack up against the "high priced spread".

I have a pretty good understanding of the byzantine world of RL, particularly their PL line. It would save me a lot of writing if you could fine tune the specificity of your query.:)

Not familiar with RLPL leather jackets, but PL is very serious stuff. The line is normally manufactured for RL by high-end makers such as St. Andrews for suits and Edward Green for shoes. Not sure who makes their leather jackets, but they are Italian. BTW - I had a newspaper route when I was younger. Somehow, I missed out on a jacket like this.

Grayland, you probably didn't need a coat like that one unless your route was in the African desert :)
The price is pretty steep!!!

If Purple Label is anything like RRL, it's really lovely, solid gear.
Actually, the RRL line is where you'd find the type of leathers favored here on the FLounge. The PL line is in a different league.

Good to know. If anyone's interested, I'll be putting a kidney up on ebay in the next couple of days...

Worf,

I have two RLPL jackets. They are outstanding jackets, but very different from that generally discussed here. One is reindeer suede and the other lamb -- the leather on both is unbelievably supple, soft and outright gorgeous, but also light weight. Neither is pre-distressed. Both of my RLPL jackets, and I believe all RLPL, are made in Italy (not China). The jacket in the first of your two identified EBay listings is NOT a RLPL, but rather, a RL Blue -- those are made in China. RRL is completely different. RRL uses wonderful leather -- the current hides are often Italian veg tanned cowhide. RRL leather is generally thicker than RLPL, often pre-distressed, and the jackets are frequently constructed in China. My RRL Moto is one of my favorite, go-to jackets.

Hope that helps.
