Anyone up for a project?

Well, folks as yall can tell i'm new around these parts, and I'd like to put forth a proposition for any takers. A little bit about myself: Oh i'm just your run of the mill country boy at heart trying to survive in this big ol' city full of fancy cars and flashy clothes! In other words, I can't dress myself in anything vintage/formal to save my life! I was wondering if I were to post up a few pictures (to get an idea of my build, look, etc.), some of yall could suggest what kind of cut or style of suit would look good on me, haircut, shoes...the whole nine. I cringe at the sound of the word "makeover" so we'll have to use "full body-off restoration" for the time being! Guys and gals...whoever is up for it! Any takers?

WOW! Now that's a quick response if I've ever seen one! Should I post the pics of me in formal clothing that I typically wear (basic three button black suit, white shirt, white pocket silk, tie, etc.) or casual clothes, maybe basketball shorts and a t-shirt so yall can see the basic model that you're working with (LOL I make myself sound like a car or something). What do yall think? I feel like a nodern, tailored suit (the type I normally wear) would hide my build a lot...

I think youd be dapper in a suit with a vest in an early 1940s style. Something of a golden wheat color, a nice tweed perhaps? As far as lids, Ill let the fellas give tips on that.

I very much agree with Lady Day and her recomendation of a 1940's style suit in a golden wheat color, that sounds awsome and of course a fedora to top it all off but what color.....?

On your more casual days though I think you could pull off a 1950's look, with a bowling shirt, jeans and a shoe from that era.

This time o' year in G'ville, I'd be NEKKID, iff'n I could get away with it. Barring that, I would tend toward the seersucker/linen end of the spectrum, topped, natch, with a vintage panama and holding a mai- ti/planters punch/singapore sling. I would take a slow drive down Rt. 24 'til I dead-ended in Cedar Key & I would stare out into the gulf until after sunset...

Hey Shuckin,

in response to where you can get vintage clothes like the ones that were mentioned... you could go to E-bay or you can look up vintage clothing stores in your local phone book or try estate sales or thrift stores. Another idea is you could look up fashions from the era's mentioned, on line-get a visual on the cuts, looks and styles and go to a modern day suit shop and see if they have any styles that have a vintage apeal.
Just some thoughts.....
