Anyone recognize these hats?

I'm in negotiation to buy them. One's a Dobbs and one's a Stetson, but I don't know which is which.

Ask the seller. The brand name could be to either hat...Dobbs and Stetson made both styles.

One is a Homburg, the other is a Fedora. I suspect (guess) the homburg is the Stetson, and the Dobbs is the Fedora...BUT I COULD BE WRONG.

Both are nice hats. The "self conforming melorol" was a trade ad for the sweatband to adhere comfortably to your head...it was a "mellow roll".

The homberg is the Stetson. St. Regis was the name of their line.

St. Regis was what Stetson called their Homburg. So the Homburg is the Stetson. therefore the other must be the Dobbs.

Well, I bought 'em. The lady selling them said her father bought them just before he died and she wants them to go to a good home. That's something I'll definitely provide. When they arrive, I'll let you know more about them. The Dobbs is interesting looking, it appears to have a bit of reverse taper, doesn't it? As for the Homburg, I never thought I'd buy one, but the deal was so great, I couldn't pass it up.

"Self Conforming" and "Melorol" confuse me as well. That's the first time I've seen that in anything but a Resistol hat.

I think there is a third hat somewhere. Look at the ridge on top of the sweatband on the Melorol hat. The other two pictures don't have that.

You know, you're right. I'd forgotten about the black stingy brim. I'm not buying it, because I don't like black hats or stingies.

That's probably the Resistol. Sorry for the confusion. I'd forgotten about the third hat, because I told her I only wanted the gray ones.

I meant on me, fellas, the black just accentuates my pale complexion. The only black hat I could see myself wearing would be a homburg, and then only with a tux. As for stingies, as I just commented on the Milans thread, I don't have the face for a stingy.

Let me talk to her tomorrow when we arrange shipping, and I'll see if it's alright to post her contact info so one of you black, stingy brim wearers can make an offer. She only wanted $66.00 for the black one, and would probably negotiate on that. I know she wants it to go to a good home.

Update: I spoke with the lady today and apparently we had a miscommunication. The homburg is a Stetson, the fedora is a Resistol, and the stingy is the Dobbs. The black, stingy brim dobbs is available and she gave me the go-ahead to give out her number and/or e-mail to Lounge members who might be interested. PM me if you want it.

The hat originally belonged to her father, who purchased it just before he died. She believes it's never been worn. It's either a 7 3/8 or 7 1/2.
