Anyone know anything about Palco Hats?

I recently had one pass through my hands . . . I thought it was a great hat. Nice soft beaver fur-felt . . . light weight . . .

But I have not been able to find out anything about the company, nor seen any other discussion about Palco hats . . .

Below are a couple of pics:

I have a black shiney beaver palco from the 30`s

The black beaver palco is the shineist hat I own.it shines like one of the old top hats.water ,sun, dust, nothing seames to phase it.I suppose I could part with it,but the cost would be so high no one would ever pay it , so guess I get to keep it .ha

Welcome to the Lounge BBH..did anyone mention the new guy buys the first round?

Mingo, I've owned Palco hats and they have been above average in quality but are long gone I'm afraid. I never did the research on the company itself so I'm clueless there.

Sure doesn't seem to be much out there about this company?! [huh]

They were still around in 1953 in Norwalk, Conn. since during that year our illustrious Palco Hats, Inc. were defendants in a lawsuit [140 Conn. 370, 100 A.2d 735 (Conn.1953)] brought by the South Norwalk Lodge, Nº 709, of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. :)

As best I can tell -- the points of law that arose from this litigation that are now being used in briefs are:

• Sublease issue holding that a tenant cannot be presumed to have granted a larger estate than the tenant has.

• No interruption will occur when an owner constructs a barrier for the purpose of interruption which is ultimately unsuccessful in defeating the adverse claimant’s use, even when the adverse claimant is temporarily forced to discontinue use. Erection of a locked gate, fence, and railroad ties not sufficient where barriers did not stop use.

Wake Up!

Oh BTW -- if you are a 7 1/8 and want a "Tyrolean-style" Palco -- this site in Eureka, California appears to be the mother lode in that regard... (no affiliation, never heard of 'em!)

:eek:fftopic: ...Nice Dobb's Gay Prince in a teensie-tynee size at the top of the page, too?!

"Fuzzy" kitten finish Palco. Beautifully soft felt and very shapeable.
5" crown bashed, 2 3/8" brim.

Nice....I just sold an old straw fedora with an oval Palco box, for $9.99. I posted a link in the classifieds that didn't even generate a bid. Follow it to the ebay link for a pic of the Palco box.

Here is what I have found out about Palco Hats. They were located in either Danbuty or Norwalk Ct. The owner was Steven Palicos from Greece. They are long out of business since the 1960's . My informer told me that they may not have made their own hats , but were rather a jobber however this information is lost to memory.
