Anyone else have a weird forehead shape?

I do, and it's causing me a little bit of problem with brimmed hats of any kind. I'm not talking about Klingon-weird, but here's what happens.

I wear a size 7 1/8, and it seems that a size 7 will be too tight (I *can* measure for a 7 if I pull the tape extremely taut).

When wearing a size 7 1/8 Stetson Boss of the Plains, if I turn my head left-right repeatedly, my hat tends to shift (not tilt) to the right. Basically, if I were to move really fast, my head turns a bit WITHIN the hat itself, before the hat moves.

So after shaking my head for about 5 seconds, my hat ends up facing Northeast in the direction I'm looking at. I am certain that it's due to a weird ridge in my forehead I got as a kid when I feel face flat, because the reverse does not happen. The hat NEVER shifts to Northwest.

Like I said, the "weirdness" in my forehead isn't anywhere near as bad as a Klingon, and might not even be noticeable at all, but it seems to be annoying. Is there anything I can do to stop it from shifting?

I recommemd padding the sweatband and see if that solves the problem. Fold a piece of tissue paper lengthwise and place it behind the sweatband where there are gaps between the leather and your forehead.

Maybe the hat in question is a Long Oval?
Hence the loose fit at the front which you describe. [huh]
Perhaps a Wide Oval would fit better?

+1. If you are trying regular oval, you may be long oval. I have a similar problem. I have a wide round head and can only wear round oval western hats (when I used to wear western hats). I can't squeeze into a regular oval without causing pain but a round oval feels like it was made special for me.

Is the oval we're talking about longer North-South or East-West?

Sounds like the oval you need is a long oval which is longer North and South. I say this because the average hat you will ever pick up off the shelf in a store will be a regular oval. You reall have to search and ask for the special sizes of Long ovals and round ovals. I go East and West.

I actually have a Resistol with a "extra long oval," tag in it. This sort of makes me wonder why they didn't just claim it to be the next size up instead of saying it was an "extra long oval"? Somehow "extra long oval" doesn't make any sense to me.

Maybe it's actually slimmer at the sides, so the circumference itself still adds up to the same size.
