Any Vintage Lighter Collectors Out There?

permanent match type lighter by match king. Striker strip is just about gone, needs fluid, probably something done to the striker as well, but it was a dollar and pretty cool even if it doesn't work at the moment.

Just lately I've been looking at some of my old lighters that have been passed down to me and got interested in getting a couple for personal use.

The last was an original pre war Ronson viking drop valve model, sadly it doesn't hold gas and the lads at Ronson here have run out of spares for them now, so its just a delightful paperweight.

I have to admit I prefer to use my old items, I don't want them sitting in glass cases

Am I the only one who finds it odd that, as a nonsmoker, I collect lighters?

Not at all, I collect Zippos of all shapes & sizes & I rarely smoke cigars.

I've had some real nice ones over the years, the only ones I've got left are these - sorry about the bad quality of the pics, they were done on a camera phone a few years back...

One of the lighters I really miss was a 1964, hand-engraved Zippo with a USN badge attached that was attributed to 'Jerry', and it got stolen off a table while I was DJing, along with a full pack of American Spirit - man, was I ever p-ed off!

I wouldn't consider myself a lighter collector, but I smoke and I really like old lighters, so I've got a couple dozen in working condition. Umm...ok...maybe I am a lighter collector...

I got a lucky score this week on a Ronson Mastercase lighter/cigarette case in the original box for five bucks. It took awhile to clean out the old corroded flint, but it works like new now.

Here's a lighter my Dad carried as a tailgunner on a B17. Totally unmarked-I have no idea who made it. His initials are scribed on the other side.

it's hard to find lighter collectors/experts. i collect alot of stuff but not lighters, can anyone tell me anything about these? (approx. year made & if they have any value at all). thanks.

I have two Ronson Whirlwind lighters, one plain steel and the other lacquered brown on the front and back. The steel one is pretty marked up, but the brown one is in excellent condition, except for some corroded flint I had to clean out. I've also got a brown lacquer Ronson Twentycase. No idea of the year, but it's in pretty nice condition, except the screw cap for the fuel compartment is pretty badly mangled, and I think it may also have some corroded flint clogging it up. I'm going to see what I can do about refurbishing it.

I have to admit, I bought the Twentycase after seeing the 1995 film version of Richard III, where Ian McKellen as Richard had a similar lighter and case combo. It just looked too cool to pass up.
