Any red flags with this A2?

Hi all,

Upon joining I was looking for advice on jackets. You have all been great and I just wondered if you felt this was a good buy?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14639734...WXw74GvSEa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I am 6ft with a 44" chest and after the advice here and checking the measurements it seems like it may work well.

I am not a rider so believe the steerhide Will be ok vs HH.

My three concerns are:

1. I appreciate the fit is hard to nail on an A2. I have a dad bod so worry it may accentuate that

2. Initially I was looking at a B6/D1 for the colder months. But thinking I can layer under an A2 and be ok.

3. All the pictures I have seen where the jacket looks amazing are on guys who wear high wasted trousers. Whilst I am not wearing my jeans down by my ankles, they are also not on my belly button.

Lastly, it was also mentioned in previous posts that perhaps a cafe racer would be better for my height and leave it undone not to accentuate the belly.

Any advice welcome. Thanks all

I used to wear my A2 all the time, 72 kilos 41 chest 32 waist, I could only wear a tee underneath, since I bought my 50s Hercules I went a size up and can wear a thin Jersey underneath or even a thick tshirt it's ok, A2 varied, on original ww2 photo you see size varied, and I wear high waisted pants, saying that in the 80s when I was still a biker I wore cafe racers and it was up my arse haha all depends on what your comfortable with I guess, if your worried go a size up

I could be wrong, but the sleeves seem quite short compared to the rest. Or is that measured without the cuffs?

Thank you. Good to know it's a jacket that is versatile. Definitely think sizing up may help. Do you prefer the Hercules?

I think it's all in. I did think that too. I have a couple of rogue territory supply jackets which are roughly the same measurements but def an inch or two longer on the sleeves. Really good spot

Looks like a good price for a nice jacket, although the sleeves do seem short for the size.
I think you are on the right track though, at a certain point it is time to stop reading and pondering and just buy a jacket to see how it fits and how you like it. Something that is selling for a fair price like this one would be a perfect way to dip your feet in the pool.
As to your question about A2 vs cafe racer that is a subjective decision that only you can make. Many here would simply say buy both and that is what I did.

I think I will end up with both at some point for sure. Likely with a shearling jacket for company. TFL is going to cost me money
