I hear what you're saying about the boots and being able to get a pair in Texas... but couldn't you easily apply the same logic to hats?

I'm just sayin'

See if she can get a hold of a Campdraft, which is an Open Road clone.

If you reshape it with a fedora pinch, you'll have one of the most wonderful fedoras going.

Look for the Open Road Guild and other Open Road threads.

True. I guess I am just not a boot afficianado. To me boots = hard work outside in the Texas heat and humidity.

I will ask her about the Campdraft. I have harrassed her so much about a hat that she is about to get me "a whole lot of nuthin"...as we say in Texas.

My wife is headed back from Australia and I dont think she found a hat. Planning on that contingency, I went ahead and bought 4 PB's (3 Cuenca and 1 Montecristi), 1 Akubra Fed IV Moonstone (shipped yesterday), and made a deposit on 1 Art Fawcett masterpiece. I like to be prepared for all contingencies. When she does arrive on U.S. soil, she will definitely take the checkbook back.

Thanks Indycop, I can't take credit for the bash though. I took a picture of a bash I liked to Catalina Hatters across the street from my work and told them to make it like that. They did do an excellent job. The picture is bad because I took it from my phone. The hat still looks good perched atop the Maltese Falcon.
