Hi guys I am new to this forum but I am fascinated by flight jackets, and very pleased to be on here.

Am currently thinking of buying a custom made A2 in russett from US authentic.....was just wondering if anyone had any pics which represent the true colour. Every single picture I have seen seems to show a slightly different shade.

By the way , what do people think of red rayon lining?

Red silk was the "blood" lining. You had to fly a certain number of combat missions to wear it.

It was presumably put in in-theater and therefore would not have had inspectors' stamps or any such nonsense.

I thought I read in one of Roger Freeman's book's that the fighter pilots in the 8th who attained a Ace status, were changing the A-2 linings to red. Like a club thing.
