Anthony Hopkins was born in Margarm, Port Talbot South Wales in 1937 (Which is about 20 miles east from me).. I think he's a great actor...A bit wild in his younger days though.
Always wanted to see "The Worlds Fastest Indian" but haven't got round to it yet.

During the war Margarm was base to the 28th Inf Div and the 2nd Inf Div..apparently he made quite a few GI friends. I suppose as a 7 year old boy, this must have been his first contact with Hollywood...He came back to Margarm castle to celebrate his 70th Birthday. :eusa_clap

Make up and a padded suit can do wonders these days. I can't imagine anyone going to the extremes to gain weight like De Niro did for Raging Bull (which shocked his daughter) and again for The Untouchables.

Hopkins owns some property southeast of me in the northern Virginia horse country, private and secluded of course.

It was on TV the other night. Good film, but why Anthony Hopkins as the lead role? Presumably because he 'bumbles' well, but IMHO he didn't do the rest of Burt Munro's character well enough to be the logical choice for the role.

Character accuracy aside (being unfamiliar with Burt Munro) I enjoyed this movie. It has spirit.

Hopkins should make for an interesting Hitchcock.
