I think, like so many other speciality areas, this is where Internet retailers are really going to clean-up and "own" certain markets as, more and more, we find it hard to find the things we want in mainstream stores.

Aye, now there's the rub... while fashion and cheaper online prices may be killing off the bricks and mortar hat store, in these days where it is such a minority interest, the expanded market available to an online-business may well in the long run maintain a better availability for those with such a specialist interest than having a local store round the corner. Unless hats come back in a big way....
