Would you? whatta ya' think? I think I might have to get one. I wonder how they do in the rain... real pith helmets are essentially the same thing, between two layers of linen, right?
Very curious.

I don't imagine it would take a knock well... (much like a pith helmet or a boater, I suppose). I'd have thought it could be okay in rain, though - isn't the point of a pith that you can soak it in cold water to help keep cool, and it driesout only gradually? Or are they treated with something first?

It's harvested from the bark of the cork oak, but the tree is not killed. A cork oak can produce about every 9 years, and will live for around 200 years. It's a very sustainable product.

Alentejo in Portugal is filled with those trees. We are one of the major cork producers.
