Not only LW but also Eastman ANJ4s do not have that vertical back seam too.

Aero Anj4 jackets are on par with RMNZ Anj4. The sheepskin that Aero use is better than the one that LW use. The goatskin of the LW ANJ4 is like plastic and has no character. I had LW, Eastman and sold them both. Aero is the keeper.

I’m sure the sheep skin is far thicker and a heavier loft also on the LE. My arm goat skin shields seem to be getting a lot of character already after a week. I’m extremely satisfied with my LW and for the price, I better be.

You are right. Eastman is lighter and the fleece is thinner. LW ANJ-4 is one of a kind. I sold one and I regret it.

No, it’s not on the website . I don’t know why that is, I tried the one on at the pop up shop last year and it was a good fit . Gary said the original one they have was a size 40r so they have the patterns for that size, so I ordered it then and received it in February . I will try and work out how to post pictures at the weekend .

Yes I do too, i may be wrong but I suspect the an-j-4 cuffs were originally made long and wide so gloves can go inside them and the sleeves didn’t ride up when the arms were outstretched .

Sleeves rolled up. I do this on my Lost Worlds but there is a wool cuff inside the LW jacket.

Here in the PNW my ANJ-4 doesn't get much use either but I can't talk myself into getting rid of it.

Down here on the edge of a Dartmoor valley, that extra bite in the wind means I’ll be keeping my BoB Irvin. But I have always carried a hankering for an ANJ-4. To me it’s easily the best looking US forces shearling. Even if I didn’t wear it much, I still think one will end up in my collection some day?
Speaking of the Irvin, it’s time to put it on for an early trip to town. Just nudging a wind chill temp of 0 outside. Brrr!

The ANJ-4 usually comes out when air temps (not counting wind chill) dip below 15 F (-9 C). This morning it was 13 F in NE Ohio so mine got it's first wearing of the season. A couple winters back it seemed like I was wearing it nearly every day for a few weeks.
