Ancestor hat pics

Thanks to Russ in another thread I thought this would be a great new thread for everone to post in.
Post a picture of an ancestor with his hat

[ ladies please post also} I know some of you watch our threads]

This is the oldest I have.

It is of my grandfather taken in Athens Alabama in 1928.

2nd

The last is of my great grand father {my grandmothers father} A.P. Dodd, taken in Athens Alabama in the mid 1930's.

He is a family member, but time has erased his first name. This tintype is close to 150 years old. He reminds me of Festus on Gunsmoke .

What a great idea (for which I only take a percentage of the credit ).

These photos are a gold mine, and if the trend continues, some of the best old hat photos on the web are going to be found right here!

Here is my contribution. This is my great-grandfather. I'm guessing the picture was taken in the 1920s or 1930s. Maybe the 1940s at the latest.

I found a lot of other pictures of family, but almost none with hats. Even the picture of this man's father around the time of the Civil War was hatless.

is actually my great-great-grandfather, sitting in his lawn chair on Great Cranberry Island, Maine. He died in 1929, so the picture is probably from the mid 1920s.
