...who has problems finding a foundation shade that's light enough for my skin? The ideal shade.. not just one that's almost light enough.
I am curious.. Maybe it's just my country that has a bad selection.

Maybe you could blend a foundation with a little light concealer? I have tried that a couple of times and it seemed to work.

You didn't mention which country in Scandinavia you are from, but is MAC makeup not available where you are? Most of the Scandinavian girls I know are very pale to start out, but tan really easily and so are usually a light brown color.

I know that MAC has websites for Germany and France, so you might be able to get them to ship to you if it isn't in your local stores.

I am not the biggest MAC fan in the world, but I will admit (grudgingly) that they do have some of the lightest foundations known to woman. I can't fault them on their color selections at all.

I have their Studio Tech foundation in NW15 for those occaisons when I "have" to wear makeup, and it is pretty light, but if that is too dark for you (or too warm- they have NC15 too) try their StudioFix in N3 or C2. They are very pale, my makeup artist friend uses them for Gothic models and they are really, really light.

We do have MAC but it only goes down to NW/NC20 and those are waaay to dark/orange for me.

If you haven't tried mineral makeup you could get a few samples of powder founation from www.lilylolo.co.uk. I guarantee one of the lightest shades will be light enough for you!

I am Swedish with pale skin and I use the skin caring foundation in color Bisque from Exuviance.

All my facial products are from exuviance since some 2 years now and this is the best thing I have done for my skin.
Do a search on exuviance on google and you will find several who has it so you can look at the color for real.

My daughters who dress like goth use Isadora they have some very pale shades. You can also find pure white foundation in shops who sells goth clothes like blue fox in Stockholm. This product my daughters sometimes mix to get a very very pale shade. The white exist both in powder and foundation to my knowledge.

I think it was Lancome who had a color called porcelain some year ago or so not sure if it still exist but it was a very light shade and I am not sure if it was Lancome but maybe if you ask for porcelain color they can help you.

Hi there...i have celtic blood and am very pale in the winter months...people often ask me if i am anemic...

I too have this problem with foundation it looks wrong on me either too dark or pale and i end up looking like a goth with dark eyes and red lipstick Or it just sits so heavily on my skin you can really see that i am caked in it even when applied liberally...
I only ever used to where it at night when going out, as it looked so ghastly in the daylight..

But recently i have tried out the mabyelline Dream matte mousse...i use the second lightest shade on there chart cameo..it is a lovely creamy colour and doesn't wash me out...and doesn't look like i'm wearing foundation. The palest one they do is ivory...which i can wear too but the cameo just gives that creamy bit of colour.It really goes on a treat you only need the tinest amount superb stuff... I highly recommend you trying it and it doesn't cost the earth.

I have learned that with foundation, it is best to go with a good one. I have yet to buy a foundation from a store that has worked well with my skin tone.
I too have pale skin and almost all drugstore brands has a pinkish tint to it.
lilly lo lo brand has really impressed me. The coverage is excellent and the colors blend in excellent with the skin.

I'm a pale Scandinavian too. The only foundation I found i stores here in pale enough shade, was Max Factor's Lasting Performance in 100. But now I get my foundation from www.everydayminerals.com, which has a wide selection of pale shades.

I came across another solution to this problem--Face Atelier's Zero Minus, a white liquid designed specifically to lighten foundation. I purchased a bottle and it really does work! It's a bit pricey, but you only need a drop to produce dramatic results. It can be found at www.faceatelier.com and www.whiterabbitbeauty.com.

I've been using Lorac for about five years. It goes on smoothly, and I get great coverage from a small amount. Thanks for letting me know that I can get it at Sephora, I didn't know that.

I don't know if you've found a shade you can work with yet, but here are a few suggestions for some other makeup lines with pale shades.

Fresh Cosmetics: I used to use their Northern Light shade which is very pale.

Aveda: their lightest shade is also very fair.

Prescriptives: I don't know if you have this line anywhere in the EU except the UK, but they do custom blend, so they can make their colors lighter for you. I know that their regular colors are kinda dark (I can barely wear their lightest shade), but they have more skin tones than some of the other companies.

Amphigory.com: They have white makeup and very pale shades, they are a gothic specialist company. Unfortunately, they don't ship to the EU. (Sorry)

If you like mineral makeup, some of them are good for pale shades. I like Aromaleigh, but they are another US only company. I guess that leaves Lilylo lo, but they do seem to have nice shades.

However, you can also add some zinc oxide or titanium dioxide powder and a bit of moisturizer to a darker shade of foundation to "rescue" a too dark bottle of foundation that is sitting around. I've done that before, and made a perfect lighter color.


Also, you didn't mention what skin tones you have, I am assuming very fair with pink undertones (and pale ashy blonde or lt brown hair tones), but if you are more peachy (like me) you might be having a problem because your skin is a different shade than other ladies from Northern Europe.
