I would just take the non one of a kind stuff with me....I know...you want to look stunning, but you also want to -relax-...and if you are thinking about all of this now...just imagine how much it will impinge on your relaxing.

Unless its a photo shoot....you don't need to have -optimal- jewelry and clothes etc.......

for me, it would be about spending time with the hubby...and not what either of you are wearing.

I would just not bring the stuff that is causing the 'i could not cope if this was taken' stuff.

But thats just me

The trunk is NOT safe!

I had a bag stolen from our trunk with:
My checkbook, phonebook, calendar, ID, bank cards, house keys, wedding planner (a month before the wedding, great), favorite 3 lipsticks (2 of them unused), favorite 2 pairs sunglasses, and 3 vintage watches that were going to the repair but the repair was closed... and I thought I was being careful by putting this bag in the trunk!!!
Don't do it. Never leave ANYTHING you care about in the car. The hotel is far safer. For one thing, in order to be insured, the hotel probably has to bond their staff so that they check their criminal records, etc.

Yah, it's a catch 22. What's the use of having these clothes if we can't go out and have fun with them, esp. on special occassions? And we do plan on taking a zillion pics. No photo shoot by any means, lol...
And pretty much everything I have is "one of a kind", even if it's modern, :p

I won't be "worrying" about it the whole time. I really try not to worry until something DOES happen. I just like to prepare so that it DOES NOT happen. That's with anything in every day life...

If you can't bring yourself to leave it at home, then mentally prepare yourself to accept the worst, should it happen. You won't be scarred for life if your clothes are stolen.

General travel advice. If you can't bear to lose it, don't take it.

I also like, never travel with more than you can carry 100 yards at a dead run.

I need to warn off the car also

I had my car stolen a few years ago. It was parked across the street from my neighbor's house. Granted, it was a highly desirable car for thieves (saturn) and in an area that I found out (afterwards) Saturn thefts were on the rise.

However, I had two beautiful vintage dresses in the trunk along with a bunch of other beautiful items from a photoshoot.

I was more heartsick over the dresses than anything.

I guess I go and am completely relaxed and unprepared. I only ever lock up jewelry or cameras in my room safe. I always carry my passport in my purse. I leave everything else strewn all over the place. I hang up my clothes and use the drawers. I don't know, I have never had anything happen in all my years of business or pleasure travel even in "eastern bloc" countries before the wall came down.

Sounds like I am just lucky.

Then you haven't traveled with a woman.

I always have a ton of stuff. My recent trip to Scotland I had 2 suitcases and one was just for my shoes and boots. We barely got thru with one as it weighed 80 lbs. which we are able to have more than the 50 lbs. I just never can decide what to wear. I had 5 different jackets. [huh]
Honey humors me. :p
