Allen Edmonds' Broadstreet's return!

The Broadstreet

For a long time this was the shoe that introduced many of the people on the vintage scene to a spectator shoe made in the modern day. Outside of vintage, it was the defacto standard for many looking to have the look in the late 90s when the swing dance scene was making a big surge.

And now it's back, and it has more details to make it more vintage-esque.

Some add ons I like are the:
Flat laces (they are tough and I've ordered a few pairs just for the fact that they fit dress shoes and are flat).
Vintage like (yes I said like) label inside.
And the extra detailing on the shoe edge which I can't remember the name of at the moment.

Oh, and it has a thinner sole.
Anywho, what do you think?

I don't know the specific lasts AE uses, but I know I have some of their shoes, in my size 10 D, that are not bad around the toe, and another pair, the Park Avenue, that are comfortable. except for being too narrow in the toe. Can anybody tell me how they are in the toe area?

There was another Broadstreet type shoe last season with a round toe that seems to be deleted in the latest cattledog.

I bought a pair last year. Several years earlier I bought a pair in black and white. Then they disappeared from the catalogue. The newer ones have a thinner sole than the old ones, as you say, but I think the older, heavier pair are better made. I was struck by your comment on the flat laces. The original pair I bought came with round, waxed laces. I liked them better.

As Matt was saying, a single sole is better than a double sole for a swing dancer. Dancers need to feel the floor and that's hard to do in double leather. Aris Allens are the de facto standard among swing dancers partly because the sole is so thin. Though I don't own a Broadstreet, I've always wanted one because it seems like it would be the ultimate dance shoe (which can also double as a great walking-around shoe). I'm looking forward to buying a pair now. Thank you for posting.

Matt, is that the walnut calf?

Just recieved in my inbox The team colors webgem's these are Allen Edmonds Neumok spectators.
Webgems Neumok spectators custom colors.

Now I really hate Allen Edmonds, I fiddled with that custom program with Neumoks and made my summer shoes... I even added those to cart and would have ordered pair. Custom orders will not be delivered to Finland (I guess rest of the Europe suffers same fate). What kind of customer service is that? I can't find anywhere that info about shipping restrictions. Real bummer.

I would suggest calling customer service with your issue (1-800-235-2348 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-6PM CST). . I think they might find a way to get those shoes to you. If the customer service rep is not responsive then ask to speak with Paul Grangaard, the CEO.

I would like to find a pair of shoes like this but with the white leather replaced with khaki canvas. That would go real well with khaki summer suits.

My concern with many of these modern made shoes is they don't come in size 11 wide and toe toe boxes are way too narrow. The whole toe box thing with a long narrow driven by style rather than function really annoys me.
