My ACES HIGH IRVIN size 46 Long. The 46 chest fitted more like a 44 so Go Big. I also went long. 29" The Zippers are cheap foreign metal. The Tape seams and back of collar are horsehide for some reason. The collar fastener is thinner than standard and also horse. The Belt loops are too wide. Its a Very good Jacket let down by a few silly things. Given that these are now £1200.00 I would go for Eastman next time. Better zips and certainly an equal jacket. I will post pics later. Jon at Aces High was helpful.

You are posting in the wrong thread. The repro Irvin thread is where you want to post this kind of info.

It's filthy up here. Wet, windy and mild, with very low cloud, which means the day seems to end before it's even got started. However, it looks as though cooler, brighter weather is on its way later this week, which suits me fine.

Not really related to Irvin jackets but here's a few shots of some RAF silverware i use daily. The date on the spoons (I have 2) and small fork is '41. The large aluminum fork is Luftwaffe, dated '36 and has the drop tail eagle. It feels good to still be putting these to use. The Sheffield made knife holds an edge well and can be honed to near razor sharpness. It cuts through steak like butter. Found the RAF stuff on ebay for $5.00 and the fork was my great uncle's who was a flight instructor, primarily on P-40's.

Pre-War Irvin Air Chute Jacket
Irvin Air Chute of Letchworth, Herts was the first maker of Irvin flying jackets from the early 1930s and continued to produce them for the rest of the decade and during the War. The quality of their jackets was usually excellent, especially the pre-War ones where the contracts were relatively small.

This jacket dates to just before the outbreak of War, i.e. 1938-9, when production of Irvin suits was stepped up for the RAF. It is made from extremely soft fleece, possibly lambskin, which was used to make some Irvins. Most of the original surface finish is in tact. The Dot Made in England zips are all original to the jacket and work perfectly. It has nine underarm vents (rather than the usual eight) and an eyelet ring on the female size of the belt are features only found on IAC jackets from this time. It shows little service wear and is an extremely comfortable jacket to wear.
