Sorry. Didn't mean to repeat myself there as I only hit send once ... Methinks this website has a gremlin or something. I mean, is anyone else finding this ? I try to type in the reply box and work my way down the paragraph, but the cursor keeps scrolling upwards ...! It's been acting up like this for ages now ....

Only on the FL could a copy of a copy of someone elses design (Irvin .. the rights to which are held by Motolita I think), with a copy of a copy of someone elses zipper design ( Air Ministry / DoT ... the rights to which are held by the Ministry of Defence I believe) ... be accused of being a copy :D :D

... and furthermore we could compound it my mentioning that the Aero name in itself is even copied from the even older company which made flight jackets in the early part of the 19th century ..... looks like we're back to the who copied who argument.

(YAWN)

Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose !

I didn't really mean 'copies of copies', but rather getting drawn into this, and I realise that I triggered this discussion for which I apologise:), I'd be more interested in seeing a few of the AL jackets that were posted earlier this year to see how they're developing.

Well I KNOW where they came from ... and it isn't where you think :D

As an aside .. looks like my next "Alexander" will be a Simmons Bilt in Mongolian Tan Horse with side entry pockets rather than patch ones .... I just need to get over my button issue ! I got a few horsehide samples from AL and plumped for the Mongolian Horse, which is a truely stunning hide, and looks like it will be soft enough and pliable enough to enable easy button usage.

Still not pushed the button ( so to speak) but I'm close... very close. Watch this space !

I've not followed this controversy nor do I care to. I can say that the Alexander Leathers 1930's half-belt in goat I bought is one of the best jackets I have ever owned or seen. As goods as the 1930's Aero I had in every way but cheaper and with only a 4-5 week wait.

+1! My Arkansas russet goatskin took only 3-1/2 weeks wait!!

I guess a comment is needed, whether you like it or not. I have jackets from both. They are leather jackets. "I pity inanimate objects, because they cannot move" sang a band once. I'd like objects that can move just to move on.

I had a similar experience but just thought it was me. All I did was hit 'Edit' then chose the delete option.:)

Oh, it's definitely gone quirky - the reply box used to be white and it was fine then.
As soon as it went black, the gremlin started work the same day ... and now i try to type and the paragraph starts scrolling upwards and begins jumping downwards and I'm chasing it around trying to place my cursor at the end to continue ...!!! So no, it's not just you, Rocketeer.

I have just started wearing my black Steerhide Roadster. Ahh finally. Weather changed to fall. I was wearing it around the house zipped all the way up as it is tight in the neck and chest/shoulders. Is actually loosening up some. I looked good doing house cleaning.
Will post some new pics down the road with some break in.

Just want to bump this thread because I am selling my Detroit horsehide half belt in the classifieds, and am not sure if those that post here check the classifieds section that much.

My first Alexander Leathers Jacket. Over a year I tried to find someone that could make me a "Redskin" D1 or B6 in my size... 52. No one could or would do it. Finally, in a little desperation, I contacted AL, they said they could and would. Here's the results.

Reinforced with "Dark Mongolian" Horsehide. I'd like to nap to curl down but I'm NOT going to soak it to get it. I'm quite happy with the jacket. I wish they made a B6.
