"Rappers may consider them cool and have commandeered them as a trademark, but baseball caps look darned silly on anyone over the age of 40 unless they are at the helm of a yacht or playing tennis. If they are worn back to front they look silly on anyone over the age of four."

Hear, hear!!

He's quite off with regards to when hats began to decline in commonality (as discussed in these parts ad infinitum - and perhaps as nauseam in the past), but it's nice to see this appear in the (almost) mainstream media as a pov today. My one real complaint about the article is the lack of captalisation on the 'w' of "winter". Poor show, Telegraph.

He is British, but catchers can be excepted from the general rule about wearing a cap backwards.

There have been much more in depth reports and stories and facts on these forums that span over 10 years of us wearers and lovers of headwear ranting, raving, reminiscing and studying.

And going by the numbers and catalogs and information research brings forth. The Decline of the hat started in the 1920s and peaked in the late 60s.
This is attributed to generations that were beginning to live with indoor plumbing and heating. Cars and mass transit that would scurry you from place to place under cover from the elements. Then Television which dealt a harsh blow by allowing neighbors to stay indoors for their entertainment, emptying the parks and stoops of cities around the world.

Having an article like this, that showcases 'hats' through the medium of one of the 'world's' most respected and finest newspapers with a daily global readership that far exceeds the total membership of this fine forum, has surely got to be a good thing Gentlemen :)

I for one am very pleased to see this.
