Akubras generaly in the US are hard to find as the main importer to the US gave up selling the product . We carry the classic Akubra called the Boomerang on our site . If you want a bigger selection , check out www.davidmorgan.com

Thanks for the info. I used to buy them in Sydney during business trips but haven't tried it locally. I'd like to replace a Snowy River that was inadverantly trashed.

Hat places in Boston

Lets see,

There is a place by Mass MGH train station, but they do mostly Cowboy hats. They are good for brushes and cleaning supplies. There is a bridal/formal wear place near Down Town Crossing (between Macy's and the theatre district, on Washingto Street). They seem to carry lower-end stuff. I know they have cheapie Stetsons.

Pretty slim pickings...

Welcome bostonnerd. You might give this place a look. WWW.NogginTops.com I found them to be very customer friendly, great service, and quick shipping. They offer a nice selection of Akubra Hats, plus several other brands. Located in Connecticut but an internet based company. Take a look on their web site and give them a call. There are other FL members who also offer a line of hats. Check them all out.

Akubra's are a hard hat to stock in the US because of David Morgan. Being that he is the only person a vendor can buy from in the US for wholesale. So he buys them from Akubra sells them here at an inflated price and then undercuts everyone on the retail price on his website.

Keep in mind that the Austrailian dollar is really strong right now for us here, so it's easy to over practically direct from the source.
I'd recommend Hatsdirect.com. With the cheapest shipping, you still can get the hat in about a week. And the customer service is really very good.

I'm 99% positive that Toppers does not carry Akubras. They carry all of the other "high quality" current hat offerings (Stetson, Dobbs...)

And Helen's Leather Shop is the place Lorne may be talking about on Charles Street.
