Akubra Overload

Just got an email back from Hats by the Hundred and they are only able to sell in retail stores. Went to the Akubra site and they don't appear to have an online option either at this point. So the new owners flip the switch in the New Year and effectively revert to pre-2000 retail.
Glad I pulled the trigger on my new Akubra when I did.

Anyone else notice that some of the Akubra retailers in Australia now say they have to be contacted to get pricing information on the Akubra line of hats.

The Hattery and Everythingaustralian were the sites I checked today. The only thing I could think of was something in the marketing department must have flipped with the New Year and the new Akubra ownership.
Interesting. I just ordered a CD through Everythingaustralian's website 2 days ago. They were having a sale ($160 USD, shipped), so I jumped on it. Glad I did, as it appears things might get more difficult and expensive going forward.

Hats by the Hundred were having a sale too, but we were traveling over the holidays so I held off. Kicks self.

So I can decide on a future hat..... Does anyone have both a Heritage felt Campdraft AND a FedIV deluxe? Opinions?
( I Know...I Know... get both lol)

My two heritage campdrafts have noticeably thicker felt than my two heritage Fed IVs - though I can't remember if I would say they are denser (I'm still traveling so can't compare right now). It's not much thicker, but it does seem to be a bit more so.

The heritage FED IV felt is similar to my Banjo Paterson, if I remember right (I wore the Banjo into the ground and no longer have it).

Also note that one of my heritage campdrafts took on a taper side to side after a few steamings. I believe that was a one-off, but I have never had similar with a FED IV.

I like the Fed IV felt better. It is a lighter hat as well. The campdrafts are robust and feel very rugged. The FED IV is also rugged (I know this from experience) but doesn't feel so as much in the hand.

Speaking of hand, the hand on one of my FED IV felts is amazing. It feels like clay (but still needs steam to crease) and I absolutely love it. The other one is nowhere near as impressive, however, and neither are the CDs.

The return of the Stockman, I'm working on a tile shower today.

Still waiting on my Fern Banjo Paterson, tracking says it may be stuck in the purgatory that is customs. Hopefully it finds its way to me eventually.

Yes, I was going to buy an Avalon from hats by the Hundred, but the sale ended before I got a chance. Now there are no akubra hats on the Hats by the hundred. in the end I went a different way for my foldable hat needs, which is a shame because I am a huge fan of Akubra's, but the previous shop in the UK that sold them never did my size.

Seems David Morgan can still sell off their website

And The Hattery still has the Fed IV available for sale (I assume because it is a Hattery exclusive)
It appears they are perhaps switching to more direct sales, there are still prices and it appears ordering available on the Akubra site. They are also offering some limited edition hats, like a couple new colors of Cattleman right now.

David Morgan is the sole Akubra importer to the US, as well as being a retailer. It makes sense they would not be constrained by the online sales ban that Australian retailers are. I wonder, on the other hand, for how long they will still be able to make international online sales
