I gave my carbon grey Stylemaster to a friend who simply could not stop gushing over it. It is now a permanent fixture on his head, and I'm satisfied.

Now I get to buy more hats, right?

2 more Akubras on the way from The Hattery. CD in Taupe Fawn and CD Deluxe in Silver Belly. I already have an Imperial felt Silver Belly CD with a cattleman's crease, so this new CD Deluxe will get a teardrop. Pics when they arrive.

I received my Akubra Stylemaster in Carbon Grey this past week. I really like it and it make a nice companion piece for my Akubra Sydney in Regency Fawn. The only thing that I would like to see is the Stylemaster available in open crown.
I much prefer a diamond bash and the Stylemaster only comes pre-creased in a teardrop or c crown. I gave the Stylemaster a good helping of steam from my wife’s teapot and re-bash.
I removed some taper and added a diamond bash. I also tightened the pinch. It took about 10 minutes to get everything done and I let it dry overnight. Here are some pictures.

Lot of talk about the Stylemaster this last week. Have you looked at the Akubra Fedora? I comes open crown and seems to be similar dimensions to the Stylemaster. Easy enough to put a diamond crease in that crown. I have a Squatter I put a diamond crease in and love it. It has a shorter crown than the Federation or Campdraft. Took the bash very easily.
Just a thought for the future.
Wear your new hat in good health.

Johnny, I didn’t look at the Akubra Fedora. I just looked at the Stylemaster. I’m pleased with the way I was able to return it to an open crown and it’s ability to take my diamond crease. It was not a hard or time consuming re-bash. I’m really pleased with Akubras price stand point and quality. Akubras might not be the finest hat made compared to vintage or customs but for me they are extremely nice and the quality is excellent.

I’ve enjoyed both of my Akubras so much I just ordered two Federation IV’s; one in Moonstone and the other in Tawny Fawn.

My first open crown hat was an Akubra Fedora. It's a great hat, and I've enjoyed it immensely.

I need to pick one up for farm work, they seem to withstand all kind of weather conditions.

My Sydney and Stylemaster have already seen rain in the short time I’ve owned them. Each held up great and did not require anything but letting them dry naturally. Now my lower end wool hats by Silver Creek require reshaping after they get wet. I’m pleased with the Akubras durability and good looks.

FWIW. Kevin @ JJ hat announced yesterday that JJ Hat has just ordered quantities of Akubra Stylemaster hats. They'll decide if they'll offer other models at some point in the future.

The Stylemaster hats should be in stock at the store and online soon.

No discussion on what colors they'll have or what the prices will be.

But it's another option for purchasing Akubra Stylemasters in the US.

This is my sons Akubra Angler getting the snow and ice treatment in Japan, it got wet, froze, thawed on repeat and never lost its shape, it has however developed holes on the crown folds after 3 years of punishment so he has tested it to almost destruction

That picture shows just how tough an Akubra is at standing up to the elements. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know why the usual 4-day transit took 10 days this time, but my new Akubras arrived at the office on my lunch hour. I can't leave the box unopened for long, so I had to spend some time explaining to others that they are not bowlers - which has become the routine when open-crown hats are delivered to my desk.

Camp Draft in Taupe Fawn / Camp Draft Deluxe in Silver Belly
Both of these will get a fedora bash, but I'm not sure whether I'll go teardrop or center dent.

A cursory inspection revealed sharp, non-wonky symmetry in the brims of both hats, so I'm excited to do some felt-sculpting later. I will try to post some pics.

It’s been 10 days since I ordered my two Fed IV’s, and I have only received one status on shipment and it said they are in route to the USA. Hopefully I’ll have them soon. Has anyone received updates from Australia Post that were accurate as to where their hats were located during shipment?

For the 5 hat orders I've received from Australia the notifications have been uneven. On a couple I was notified seemingly every day, with each small step the box took. On other orders I received only two: landed in US, and delivered.

As it has been stated here before, once the package hits US soil you can use the tracking number to follow it on the USPS tracker.

Thanks so much. I have hats to keep my head covered so I’m good for now. :) Hopefully I’ll hear something soon.
