I don't think there's anyone left in the UK who could/would do that sort of work. Or at least not for the amount I'd want to pay!
The whole hat 'scene' appears much better for that sort of thing, at least from this side of the pond.

That's what I keep hearing. Somebody over there needs to take up the craft!

I just walked into Pork Pie Hats in NYC (East Village), and I was happily surprised that they carry many styles of Akubra Hats. It's nice to be able to try them on
the guy in the store was great to speak with, and was very helpful.

Thanks for posting those pics. I've been looking at the brown-olive tablelands for a while now. Resisted another purchase so far but it's still looking good to me. It's definitely on my short list now.

Mike ; i was surprised that a feather was included in the Package from Sam.i thought that feathers ere extras now.
i'm ambivalent in regards to them. Always embellish my hats with fly fishing lures
but this was in the package
Bulleit Bourbon, very upscale, there is a bottle of Clan McGregoor here from about 1982, maybe i can cook with it.

Here's my Adventurer...purchased from Outback Outlet in Pa. It's a really soft and floppy fur felt, not to be confused with David Morgans current offering, also dubbed the "Adventurer".

The next is a Bushman from DM. Good, solid brown hat. It's softened up nicely since it's purchase in Feb of '08.

It's a shame you lost a hat with such wonderful character. I can appreciate a pristine hat as much as anyone else, but I really like hats that look like they have a few stories to tell.

Akubras are the only hats I have. They suit my casual outdoors lifestyle. One thing is hard for me to figure out though. Which one looks best with my facial shape and features. I'm 5'11" 180 lbs, size 60. Which one of these looks best, and is there something else that would suit my ugly mug better? Is there a more suitable bash I could give the hats that I have?

Don't fret it, they all look great on you. I wouldn't change the bash. Now, you just need to add a Campdraft

The Bushman & the Fed4 have enough crown for the length of your face. The other 2 are lacking so the symmetry is off a tad. The Fed4 looks best of the 4 on you.
