Thanks Neo. Looks like Sand is a lot lighter than Santone Fawn, but I must say that the same name colors on that site vary from hat to hat. I have a Regency Fawn LT and on their site, the closest color looks like Loden.
I really like Akubra fit and sizing for my head and craftsmanship is good and price too, but their colors are far and few in between and are not consistent.

Cross posted this in the Federation thread, but wanted to add it here for those who don't visit that one.

Great pic Randy. The fed is one I still have not handled in person.

You'll never guess who wears an Akubra on US TV .....

.... just saw the Ophra Winfrie show and she was on location in Yosemite National Park and they filmed a segment with her fly-fishing and taking a mule trail ride and on her head was a well worn Cattleman Akubra !!! The crown crease was sort of pushed out but it had the same braided hat band as the DM model and she mentioned it by name as well !! Now that Ophra endorses it, Davids going to make a fortune :)

Why do you ask?
I've heard that she went to Australia [and wore a Cattleman] or is going there... or something.[I don't watch television.] Quite frankly, I hope Oprah doesn't make it an "in" thing to wear hats... I prefer being that "weird guy in a hat" as I once heard a passer-by describe me. But, I'm sure that the sheep [oh, I'm sorry general public] will jump on whatever she breathes a word about, so I expect that Morgan will get at least a new stream of customers.

Randy

P.S if the tone of this post came across as snarky, it has done it's job... Monbla, none of the snark was directed at you personally... just Oprah, and the sheep. lol

So Sam at EA tells me that pretty much every hat in Akubra's Western line shares the same block, and that that block has a tad bit of taper :(...so that kinda sucks lol.

On the plus side, I got bored and fiddled with the brim on my LR. I really like the treatment. Oddly, though, it makes the hat sit just a tad offcenter (which looks cool as well):

Oh well, while my search for the next hat continues, the fun begins anew with the ones I already have. What more could I ask for? :)

Don't worry, these "in" things don't last :) Give it till Christmas if at all, then it will be all over. But the hat did not look like it had just been put on her head for the segment. it looked like she probably wears it when she goes out for this sort of thing. :)

Yeah. The fact that it doesn't appear to have been just plopped on her head is cool, at least!

Oh and Alexander, that looks pretty rockin'!

Sorry it's ONLY 3 5/16" WAY TOO small :) BTW The crown has NO TAPER :) Really though, your probably better off to skip the Akubra's, skip Stetsons etc. and get in touch with one of the cutom western hatters and get WHAT YOU WANT :) Will be CHEAPER and you will get THE hat your'e looking for. Seriuosly :)

I seriously doubt that all akubra bush style hats are made on the same block. I've got a lot of them and they vary significantly in shape and conformation.

lol Monbla, that was hilarious lol!

Oh, and James, I'm sorry if I miscommunicated. I was saying that many of the models I was considering in Akubra's Western line (such as the Bronco, Arena, Burke&Willis, and Rough Rider) shared the same shape and dimensions.

Oh, by the way, I took the brim experiment on the LR further; it is now a fully-fledged rolled brim, and it looks extremely cool. Don't have any pics right now, though, because it's dark :).
