Thanks for those suggestions Ryan. The cattleman and coober pedy are 3.25" brim with 4" crown, just so that we have the units of measure all the same! These 2 also have chin strap hooks which I think I will use. I think I need to stick with as small a crown as possible, so 4" max it seems.
Snowy river a bit to curvaceous for me.

As my quest continues, I Sent the photo of me in the Territory to Hats direct to get their opinion (see pic below). They came up with these two https://hatsdirect.com/collections/the-akubra-range-1/products/blue-mountains and https://hatsdirect.com/collections/the-akubra-range-1/products/tablelands
Anyone have an opinion on these two? Neither are available from the the USA distributor.

I like the table lands, slightly smaller brim but also less packer dip, which looks better to my eye. Either of those would be good choices.

With your face shape I would go with the Blue Mountains. More of a tapered, rounded crown. I have the Coolabah that has the same crown shape and it suits a narrower face then the big boxy crowns. Coober Pedy also has that crown shape. https://hatsdirect.com/collections/the-akubra-range-1/products/coober-pedy. If you want the really wide brim for sun protection check out the Riverina. https://everythingaustralian.com.au/row/riverina-hat.html this web page is really good for international shipping as well.

Thanks Johnny. The Riverina was my top choice however the local store only carries the Territory. Looking at video comparisons of the two I thought that maybe the Riverina with even taller crown may also not look good on me. My wife also did not like the wing like upsweep of the side brim which I guess is a function of the size of the brim as well. The 96mm brim of the Blue Mountains falls nicely between the 83mm of the Coober and the 103mm of the Territory so may just work. It's exclusive to the Hattery. Just waiting on them to tell me the crown height.

Being a picture is worth a thousand words.
Here is the Cattleman. Similar crown to the territory. I also have a skinny face with pointed chin.

And here I am with that centre crease style Coolabah that’s like the blue Mountains

Hopefully you can see how the rounder/slightly tapered crown suits my face slightly better. The cattleman doesn’t look bad, just makes it look top heavy.
Both have flat brims but because I have a longe oval head shape it pushes the front and back of the brim down and sides up. Gives my hats a nice “swoop”
Just as a contrast here I am wearing my 17-18 year old SnowyRiver.

Indeed it does help. Thanks for going to the trouble. Amazing the lengths we go to just to buy a damn hat! Would make life a lot easier if there was a stockist here with the full range. This is going to be a present from my wife so I guess she needs to have a say! Time to just bite the bullet.

Well so far the Blue Mountains exclusive to Hats Direct appears to be the front runner. It's tough choosing a color now. Hard to actually tell the color from a photo. My wife said go for the Loden as all my other hats (not Akubra) look more like the Sorrel and she thought that the bluegrass green looked too green. My daughter commented that the Loden looked too dark!
This hat is not that common so not too many photos of people wearing it. I found a couple here on the forums. Looking at other Akubra hats in bluegrass green seems to look different depending on how the light hits it. Any comments welcome.

Here's my Bluegrass Green Campdraft photographed on an overcast day:

And the same hat with my other two Campdrafts on a sunny day:

Some lighting brings out a hint of a blueish hue but it's definitely a green hat, so if that's not something you're interested in you'd probably be better off choosing the Loden or Sorrel. I really like the color, and it seems to get a bit more attention than my other hats.

I have been a long time hat lover and long time lurker, and finally joined you guys to share my love of hats! I recently purchased my first Akubra, the Coober Pedy in Santone Fawn and thought I'd share some shots! I'm already stoking my Akubra addiction and bought the Traveller in black. Don't mind my unwaxed eyebrows :)
