That's a lot like my bash, except I lowered the front end and made too tight a pinch. It looks really good, like how I want my Squatter to look :D

Let's call it a "teardent."

I also like what you did with it - not stereotypical of what you see around the lounge but really fits you and the hat's shape. Think you're right not to steam anything in at this point and just mess with it. See how it wants to be. Very cool as is.

Self-control? Look at me---the deal-breaker for my wife getting me a custom-made hat for my birthday was me buying any hats at all before September 29. I've bought 2 since the deal was made! :eusa_doh:

Yeah, well, last year, I bought an OR. Then a CD. My wife commented that the CD looked a lot like the OR. When I 'splained that the CD really is an OR under another name, she put me on a hat moratorium until 2011! As of today, 141 days and counting!

JBucklin, I'm not sure your case is as bad as mine. You at least got an OUTLET STORE that you can drive to, I got nothin' but TFL lol.

In one summer I have purchased 4 hats, and I am thinking about another coming in August or early September! This is the same summer that I found TFL and actually got into hat wearing! I really want a Bluegrass Green CD or DM's Moonstone or Black Squatter.

To be fair, though, I had to buy these hats to find out what works for me. It was probably cheaper anyway than getting myself from Far East Tennessee to Wherever-that-outlet-store-is, TX lol. The fourth hat I've purchased, the Campdraft, is also the first hat that I liked (The Squatter, maybe, if I had better shaping skills). The Taupe Fawn's a great color, but it's also a safe color. I'd like something similar to the Campdraft, but in a more striking color!

HEY! I just figured out why I haven't been able to shape my Akubras very well! It seems to me, as of late, that the Akubra hats, at least the fedora line, are meant to sit relatively high on the head. So all those size 60s I ordered, I ordered because I wasn't measuring my head at the right place! I put in some sizing tape and pushed the Campdraft up a bit, and voila! Now that dome on my teardrop doesn't touch the top of my head, and it's making a world of difference. :D :D :D :D :D

This is just another reason I'm trying to enter the medical profession, it's one of the few that will give me the resources to keep up with all my expensive hobbies. Also, when I get married, the more income I have the less chance their is my better half will notice some cash is missing lol.

That'll look good on your medical school application. "I want to be a doctor so I can buy more hats." They ought to take that into account.:)

Sadly, it may also give you enough student loan debt to keep you from indulging in those hobbies. Oddly, Sallie Mae doesn't seem to care care whether I own enough hats.[huh]

Not just that. I also want a respectful title, a salutation. Doctor sounds better to me than Mister. There's also the money.

I would say that I want to help people, but I'm more looking into Pathology, Virology, and Radiology. I may be helping people, but I won't see them most of the time, only parts of them or xrays of them lol.

...Sometimes, being honest will get you nowhere lol lol lol.

Do You Notice Something?

This morning I was working up a sweat clearing foliage off our backyard/mountain (the one you see in my previous "Money Shot"), and I decided to wear my Campdraft (I'm glad I did, because it saved me once or twice from injury. My dad was weed-wacking near me several times, and the sticks and thorns just flying straight for my noggin lol).

After working for a while I took the hat off to fan my face, and I noticed the front of the ribbon was dark brown, the color it turns when it's really wet. I wasn't sure how sweat got on there, so I looked inside the hat and saw that the liner was glued just above the sweatband.

Did I sweat right through the felt and onto the ribbon? or did I just touch the ribbon with a sweaty glove at some point?

Here I am, still catching my breath and tryin' to look smug, and you can see the dark portion of the ribbon as well:

Here I am after cleaning myself up a bit:

Oh, and that last image shows the results of getting the CD to sit higher up on my noggin. Now the stalks of my glasses don't slide up in between my head and the sweatband, which was somewhat annoying :D .

Not the same hat, but it's Akubra anyway; I know that I sweat through my Federation to the point of it showing on the ribbon. It's faint now due to being exposed to water (whether rain or recreasing) overtime, but I can tell that remnants of it still exist, although I wouldn't think it to be that noticeable to the untrained eye (for most people, if anything the hat itself is the center of attention, not the ribbon or band).

Does anyone else have experience with this, and possibly on how to remove it?

I'd agree with you, but it's only the portion of the ribbon that fits atop my forehead. So you've got a 4-5in dark portion on a light colored ribbon. It's already dry and looks like new again, it just surprised me that I sweat right through the felt!

Good to know that it happens on other Akubras, anyway. I'm assuming you've the Imperial Quality standard FedIV, correct?
