What noteworthy hats did they drop?

to name a few (not all) - cowboy, border and silver spur. IMO these were some of their best ever

akubra recently had a shake up. Dropped a heap of nice hats and introduced a small number of new ones (like the KR). I think it also coincided with bringing in all rabbit pelts from overseas and a huge price jump

Did I miss something? I have not noticed any substantial price increases from Akubra. The CD from Sam is still at $85 US. Which in my books is a steal.

i know i'm not feeling well when a hat sits un-opened for three weeks.
But here is the hat, ordered 60cm instead of the usual 61 shrink in a couple months.
fits perfect now, lets see as time goes by.

I studied the specs of the Kentucky Rancher whenever it first appeared & I like it a lot. I think it is a near perfect size. It reminds me a lot of my Worth-Walden.

This old thread caught my attention as every time I go to David Morgan I put this hat on and stare at myself in the mirror with a seriously satisfied grin. (Happened again Monday.) I'm kind of amused at myself for being so drawn to it, but this hat is cool.

It is only a matter of time before one in the sand color comes home with me. At that point I promise I'll crash the Akubra Overload thread with pics of my current 7 Akubras plus the new Kentucky Rancher Hat.

Edit: Currently my only camera available is the one mounted in my Mac, and it sucks for posting here. I'll get that situation cleared-up so I can properly participate.

I ordered one from Everything Australian. My three month wait turned into four then five and when six months was approaching they sent me an email and asked if I wanted a refund or wanted to keep waiting. I went with the refund. I’m still intrigued by the hat, but I think the crown is just too low for my liking.

With that I would agree - it might look out of place in your collection. Love the tall crowns on your hats!

That is a fine looking hat! Thought I had all the Akubras I wanted. Now there is another on the list!

I believe that Akubra has discontinued the Kentucky Rancher. I found one on closeout at Everything Australian in sand and placed my order. It was the last Kentucky Rancher they had in any size. I hope that when Covid etc. settles down they bring this hat back.

Ordered December 26, 2021 and delivered to California on January 14, 2022: not bad at all.

I have sat on the fence too long. It is great looking hat and hard to replicate that curl.

I wasn’t looking for another until I saw the closeout price and saw that the only hat in stock was my size: it was meant to be. Akubra truly does make a nice hat for their price.

Howdy from Montana..I'm a newbe here and This is my Akubra Kentucky Rancher with a Wyoming bash and a double Mule kick!...Picked it up a few years ago and added my own bash...I own many hats, but none fits me quite as well as my Akubras...taker easy but taker...woods
