Just ran across this on Everything Australian's site: http://everythingaustralian.com.au/akubra-kentucky-rancher.html Very intriguing. A 75 mm brim, just a hair under 3 inches, though with the curl it looks considerably shorter, and a 125 mm (4.9") crown. Akubra's site says it comes in Light Sand and Loden. Anybody ever purchase one of these?

Never heard of it, but looks like it might be a real nice hat. I love the style with the rolled brim.

A sort of cut-edge Homburg with a Western crown. Looking at various sites, I get the impression this is new for Akubra.

Post a pic when you get it. I'm curious, despite the fact it's too hot to wear a felt hat, and will be for some 4-5 months around here.

I have been eyeing one of these for the past 2 months, since they were introduced. A great looking hat.

Well, seeing as the wait time is three months, it may be about time for felt when mine comes in. It sure will be here in Ohio

October here in Da Swamp is like June in civilized climes, except without the hopeful quality.

Oops -- I didn't see that 10-12 weeks disclaimer on there. AustralianGear says it has the Light Sand for immediate delivery, Loden is the 3-month; but they're $13 more expensive to start with. The video on their site says there's a "Bran" color available, but with also a 3-month wait.

In the video, you get an idea of its proportions on a real human head. The brim curl keeps it from being too overpowering.

I wrote to AustralianGear, asking if these run true to size or if I should order a size up or down; and also if they could point out a "Bran" color hat.

I suspect Bran to be like a tawny fawn/ light brown color.
Hope they run true to size, I ordered a 7.

Now that I've seen it I believe I'm going to have to order a few for the store.

akubra recently had a shake up. Dropped a heap of nice hats and introduced a small number of new ones (like the KR). I think it also coincided with bringing in all rabbit pelts from overseas and a huge price jump
