I'm tempted to take that a step further and dunk ny new Territory in the lake. I haven't done that with any other hat but an unlined country Akubra seems like the one to try it with, if any hat is.
There's a geezer from the outback who materializes on this forum from time to time just to deride us all for being a bunch of bloody pooftas because we worry too much about our Akubras. I'm hoping your comments conjure him up.

Thanks all for the input!

By way of update, I ordered:
- fed 4 in moonstone,
- campdraft in the cedar brown,
- stylemaster in bluegrass green...

I'm hoping these hats will work for weather between 0 celsius to 40 celsius... I don't own straws but I hope I don't get enticed to splurge on straws...

Sunbody - for those days when you just cannot take the heat any longer. Being in the greater New Orleans area, this is something that I understand.

No dunk in the lake, but it did handle a torrential downpour very well. I trust our outback friend would approve - there is something fun about wearing a new Akubra in the rain.

Got one and its one of my go to favorites.
Ditto. Funny, but when I first got it I wore it only with my black get-ups (black shoes, belt, etc.), but I started wearing it with a brown leather jacket last winter and found that it looked equally good with brown basics. Really useful color.
Come to think of it, I'm awaiting a pair of AE's Jeffersons I bought during the July 4th sale. Can't wait to pair 'em up with the hat.

Anyone know if they have changed from ribbons to two cords on recent production CD's or is it a "run what you brung" type deal? My most recent MSCD still has the flat ribbon.

I think it is a refreshing twist on the common CD ... dig it
To me it makes it look like a cut down Western & my first impression was that's what it was. I bought the hat. If the felt is good (it's an Imperial grade) I'm thinking of leaving the edge raw but replacing the two cord with a mid ribbon.

Of course it was an open crown so I'll start from there also.

It also looks totally unflanged.

I really like it.
