Akubra Fed's it's a generational thing...

I've seen pages and pages of information about how to date stetsons from 50 to 100 years ago. i find it incredibly fascinating and have spent more time that i'd like to admit perusing the pages of the lounge.

a recent purchase made me start digging into the Akubra Fed's I've had a Fed IV for a long time and purchased another hat that I assumed was a fed IV, but when it arrived it seemed to have the dimensions of a Fed III, but then I noticed that it had a 2.5" non-dimensional brim. After some discussions with the prior owner and with Hats Direct, I realized that that I may be sitting on a Fed I or a Fed II, not the Fed III

so for all the loungers out there who have purchased feds, I ask that you fill in the blanks as much as you can... for the Characteristic field, I mean, with a trained eye what would make you say, oh that's a fed III not a fed IV, etc.

A minor note on this, for the sake of accuracy--the Tawny Fawn is only available in the Imperial Quality felt. The comparable color of the Heritage Quality felt (the Deluxe Fed IV) is called Heritage Fawn. The two colors are almost identical, but the Tawny Fawn is slightly "warmer" in tone; the difference between the two colors is so marginal that most people wouldn't notice it unless they had one of each hat available for a direct comparison.
