Akubra Colors - Who is the Akubra Expert here

You know, I'm wondering if the Pastoralist isn't just a telescoped Squatter in other colors. Chuck, what's the inside of your hat actually say on the band?

Tone, mine says Squatter with a unique peach colored liner...

OK... I am going with moonstone, then. I think we found it. Mine, too, has a tendency to seem rather whitish in photos but is much warming (and bluer) in real life.

That's been my experience with trying to photograph the moonstone Squatter also. Sometimes it's very light outdoors. Can appear blueish or tannish depending on the light. Beautiful color though.

BTW, I'm not an Akubra color expert, just the 'moonstone' guy.

Speaking of which; you know, thanks to these pictures, I never really stopped to admire them long enough but Akubra's have some really nice sweatbands.

My Adventurer is fading from wear but - I'm sitting here "marveling" at its sweatband now. LOL!

I have to say, this Pastoralist sweatband is soft as heck, too. It's almost soft as kidskin and not like the stiffer leather bands I am used to. This thing is almost like glove leather. Very nice.

Tone, I do see a similarity in these two hats now that you bring it up. I imagine they use the same blocks and offer a different crease for some variation. Akubra does make a decent hat for the price.

You'll find that that is typical for Akubra's. The gold stamping won't last much past a year though, if you wear it as your only hat daily. My newer Bushman lost it's gold stamping about 9 mo's after I got it, but it was my only other hat I wore for almost 2 years. But it doesn't bother me as I'm more of a "wearer" than collector

It'll depend on how much and when you wear it. I've worn my Bushmans as "... fan the fire, water the horse" hats in winter, rain, sleet, and snow as well as the Texas 100+ degree summers and sweated THRU the felt and THRU the hat band !! Yours probably will last longer

Chuck, I'm sure there's more truth to that fact than any should delve into; so long as Akubras remain affordable and don't get too far ahead of themselves in terms of pricing, they can all have different names on the sweatband. (No, of course not every Akubra is off the same block, but...)

No, these sweatbands, though. I'm just liking how they look! I forgot how great an Akubra sweatband looks brand new. These pics are nice reminders. I was looking at one of my Akubras here and realized how rarely I stop to appreciate that sweatband when it's clean and new.

Those pristine sweatbands make a guy want to buy another just to crease one all over again! (Maybe it's new car syndrome.)

And Mobile, I'm guessing that, "Made Expressly for Outback Trading Co, PA" stamp is why the color's unique on that Pastoralist.

One of mine, here. This one's well worn so the lettering's fading a bit from when it was new; but darn if it isn't comfortable!
