Just got my BGCD in and no damage to the box or hat! Now, what bash to put in it? Hmmmm, gotta go find those Jimmy Stewart pics.

Received my Blugrass Green Camp Draft and Fawn Capricorn from EA today as well. Both the package and hats are in perfect condition. These size 60 Akubras are bigger out of the box than my previous seven size 60s (including two other Camp Drafts). I usually have to put one felt strip in and, after a few months of wear, I am able to take it out. Both of these will require two felt stirps and are still a hair big at that.

I see that Sam is already sold out of size 60 and 61 BGCD. I guess Loungers snapped up quite a few!

The polypropylene Capricorn is much nicer than I would have thought, especially for the price. I will probably order a grey Capricorn and cream Rink soon in time for summer wear.

I understand now what all the fuss was about. The Camp Draft is a very nice lid QUOTE]

You did a GREAT job on that crease! I'm glad you went for the Silverbelly as IMHO, it's the BEST color for that hat given it's history :) Now you need another to put a center dent/front pinch crease in and it will be PERFECT :)

BTW, who's in the background in their flannel PJs ? :)

Onward thru the Fog :)

Looks great Crazy Legs! I take that the lid is fresh from being bashed and that it is still a bit wet. Almost looks like a vintage farmers hat that had been well worn. In any case, it looks like it'll be a good friend for some time to come.

Cheers!

Yes Dan, these pictures were taken by myself just minutes after the steam. I work out of town and when I arrived I couldn't wait to get started on the bash. I wanted pictures for this thread. M256, because it was late Friday when I finished, my wife of 31 years was kind enough to wait around with me to take the pictures for me but as it turned out these worked fine at arms length. She likes the Silver Belly color too and after showing her some of the pictures here of the Bluegreen CD she says it is a "must have".

That Campdraft looks awesome. I like seeing pictures of distressed hats, naturally, not so much artificially. Your hat looks as if it's seen a fair share of honest hard work, is that so? Pristine, clean, new condition hats are nice and all, but I enjoy seeing a hat that looks like it's been through a lot, and has a story to tell.

My new Camp Draft after the steam bash

The box was trash when it arrived but the hat was in good shape. A little time and a lot of steam makes for a great hat.

I think he had just wet it down immediately after receiving it in the mail for shaping.

You have a fantastic wife that'll say the next hat is a "must have". Very well done on the bash. Would like to see some shots of this CD dry to check out the difference in color. Whenever it is convenient for you.

Cheers!

Enjoyed looking through this thread - some great Campdrafts.
I've been inspired to go ahead and order a Bluegrass Green version, really looking forward to getting my hands on it.

Yep I frequent this thread every now and then to see what new purchases have been made and to see if Neo has broken down and bought another. Of course the pics are great too.....much too great in fact (my wife might block this site soon); seems they entice a fellow to go ahead and buy another CD. I just pulled the trigger on a mid brown. It should ship in March. I hate the wait but have always liked the color of the pics on here.

what does the gang feel is the optimum height for the crown on a Camp Draft? Mine is 5" in the front and 4" in the back.

Jeff

I have three Camp Drafts and regardless of how I tweak the bash they come out at 4.25-4.5" front and about 1/4" lower (4.0 - 4.25") in back.

lol Not likely. With the Tawny fawn and bluegrass green, my CD-lust has been sated. Now, if I actually get a tan sometime, I may go for Silverbelly; for now, though, I'm done with CDs unless either one of mine becomes damaged beyond repair, or they do another run in black :D.

BTW, congrats on the Mid-brown, can't wait to see it when it gets there!
