Yeah, right now the greenback dollah bill is taking a right royal arse-kicking from both the £ sterling (not so bad) & the OZ $ (pretty bad) & the Loonie, (AWFUL) too. Wait 'til a better exchange rate... buy low, sell high... 'course, it could also continue to trend in this direction, I dunno...So right now CHRISTYS" are still a good deal, AKUBRA- not, BILTMORE- REALLY not! The international hat exchange
[huh]

It really begs the question of who can manufacture the better Hundred Dollar Hat - Akubra, Stetson, Biltmore, Bever Brand...? ? [huh]

The market will tell.

But you will hear it here first. :cheers1:

I guess I'll be putting off that Silverbelly for a while. The less favorable exchange rate coupled with my recent purchase (Akubra Lightning Ridge) have definitively delayed my CampDraft Acquisition Agenda. Oh well, I'm 2 colors down with 2 more to go, I'll get there eventually lol.

I was enjoying the beautiful early spring sunset this afternoon from my bench in the yard, wearing my newly rebashed Campdraft, of course. I was also enjoying a pipe of cherry cavendish.

(lectures on the evils of smoking not required in this forum - Im a big boy. :p )

Here are a few on the noggin shots of the CD, as requested above. I think it goes well with leather.

Newbie here, with a few other posts floating around - but I have to chime in here. I have been lurking here for a couple months and have seen some great wearer/hat combinations but I must say (and my wife agrees), that Silverbelly Campdraft just fits James to a "T". I wish I looked a fraction as good in any hat. Akubra should use one of those pictures on their website.

Yes our dollar is kicking on nicely. Its time for us to be buying things from you for a while. Ive been stocking up on vintage gillettes while we have a strong currency.

When I first came to the states in '03, (the trip whereupon I met my wife) I got $0.50 as the exchange rate. I was there for 12 days and it cost me about $15K Australian.

I much prefer it now....

Anyway, its saturday morning and Im off to the hattery for a coffee and to try on a moonstone stylemaster. If I like it there will be some significant hints dropped around here between now and my birthday next month.... :D

Just ordered one in carbon grey earlier this week. Thought it would be an immediate shipment, but I learned today my size was out of stock; response indicated it would ship before too much longer.

My double-pinch diamond bash is no more. It was a nice experiment, and I liked it, but the shape of the bash was causing the sides to blow out too much, so it looked too wide when viewed from the front. I smoothed it out and made a less rounded C-crown/teardrop and a narrower front pinch. Looks much better to me now.

Why do you ask?

Hey, the classics are classic for a reason, after all. It looks much better now.

It takes the right hat to pull off something out of the ordinary, doesn't it? Now that photo of Michaelshane's hat with the rear pinch looks amazing.

I missed that one - I'm not saying different is bad, I'm saying classic is good.
