Yeah It doesn't look like they are interested.

I posted this reply in another thread earlier this month.

"I know that several of us had emailed and asked for a Moonstone CD.

The last responses I saw or received said they would take it under consideration ..

So I decided to see if anything was going on since last spring and emailed them about it.

Here is my reply, I received this on Sep 3, 2009

Hi Harry,

no plans for the Campdraft in Moonstone yet.

We have the Stylemaster in Moonstone.

Hope this has helped.

This was posted in the "Any questions for a hat seller and specialist in Akubras" thread in the hopes of getting the word back to them that many of us do want the Moonstone in CD.,

I don't know how to do it, but it might be a way to put up an on line petition where the people that are interested in a specific color Campdraft list their hat size and the color they are really, really interested in purchasing. That way Akubra and the sellers would see if there is a true market for them and if it's worth making. In order to do such a color they need to do a "run" which has minimums and if they make a hat that is not a seller, it's tying up money just sitting on a shelf for them and that's a position they want to avoid.

Although, many items are made and sold as a Limited Edition and the true collectors often will fight to get one.

Message from Hats Direct after checking with Ron....

We have been in contact with Ron and we will not be doing a Moonstone Campdraft any time soon - certainly not this side of Xmas.

I also emailed them to add my name to the list of people wanting a moonstone CD. Question though, if they make moonstone Federations why can't they make CD's? Can't they use the basic felt whatchamacallit that they use for the Federations?

Well it's not Moonstone but my Glen Grey CD showed up yesterday. I'll try to get a couple of pics up soon but the renovations are kinda eating my time

One thing I noted was that the felt was really soft, so soft in fact it had its moments where I was struggling to get it to hold it's crease. It wasn't helped by the fact that I've ordered so many Akubras from Hats Direct that I qualified for a free Capricorn. That hat was great. The fact that it was on the CD in the box and so the CD came out with a Capricorn crease- not so great. I spent half my time just getting it back to open crown before I could even start with the bash.

Now sometime in November my Mid-Brown CD will arrive and then in the spring I'll have to get a Silverbelly for summer. Dont' anyone make a suggestion for Bluegrass Green one - I'm getting enough dirty look from my better half as it is :D

Demise of Bluegrass Green?

Just got an email from Jenny at Hats Direct and she told me that the Bluegrass Green colour is now discontinued from the Campdraft line:

As for the Campdraft in Bluegrass Green, it has been discontinued from the colour options for this hat. It is only available in Mid Brown, Silverbelly and Taupe Fawn. The Glen Grey colour is exclusive to us - we had to do a run of over 50 hats to get this colour.

Not sure if Everything Australia still has any in stock. Just an FYI.

If everyone who doesn't have one yet buys one, maybe Akubra would reconsider - and this includes me.

Thanks for the reminder.

You guys lost me somewhere around page 34.

Anyone know where a Bluegrass Green Camp Draft size 58 could still be purchased?
...

EverythingAustralian unless they are out and haven't updated their website yet.

If you order the last 58, Fredthecat, I will hunt you down and ask you to let me try on your hat - and I would also ask you to direct me to a mirror so I could see what I was missing. :p

Thanks, Order placed.

I'll share, just stop by Eagle River, Alaska. I'm out the canyon by the glacier.

That's Camp Draft #4.

Oh, Mrs Fredthecat just handed over a new Bushman in box hoping I would stop shopping....just need one more hat dear.

Campdraft sizing and brim

I'm thinking about picking up a Campdraft, but I need a bit of help with two things:

1) Most website say the brim is 73mm, but one had it at 70mm (I believe). There was a post somewhere from one guy who actually ahd one with the slightly shorter brim. Does anyone know for sure what the brim width is and if there are two which sellers sell the different sizes.

2) I usually buy a 7 3/8 but they tend to run a little big on me. Should I go with the 58mm or 59mm?

Yes, indeed, Daddydg, the Campdraft, appears to be a consistent 73mm or 2 7/8 in. wide.

Why do you buy too big hats, man? Go for the 58.

Beware the Hatsdirect.com pimped out Squatter....
