I'm curious to see what she charges for the CD. When I order a standard one from HatsDirect the cost is around $150.00 and that includes shipping from Australia to Texas. It is about $40.00 less from EverythingAustralian but the wait for most colors is 90 days. I would think those prices will be hard to beat for a brick and mortar store in the US. I hope she does well with them though. They are great hats and it looks like she has a great hat shop.

She quoted $180 before shipping on a CD in silverbelly. Our conversation ended there.

*** Error correction *** I reread the message and noticed that Gigi actually quoted $189.00 for a Stratoliner and $199 for a Campdraft with no discussion of shipping. My immediate reaction was to shift to Sam at Everything Australian so I did not feel the need to look into shipping costs.

Everything Australian quoted about $120 delivered in 3 months and HatsDirect has what I wanted in stock for about $35 more than EA. Shipping from AUS is not all that long, so I am on the fence between these two.

I guess Gigi figures that having CDs in stock is worth a WHOLE lot more money and on her FB page states that she thinks that she is the only CD dealer in the US. However, a couple of hat shops are willing to work at ordering for customers, although they are not clear as to having any in stock.

BTW Gigi quotes $190 as her price on a Stratoliner.

I am thinking that I will deal with Sam - if I can get past their on-line purchase process. The shipping selection page is messed up. I cannot select either option or bypass, so a call to Sam might need to take place.

David Morgan came to us and asked us if there were any hats that Akubra made that he did not carry that we wanted. If we took enough he would make us exclusive if we wanted. I did not think the the Campdraft was an option. Good for her.

IF I lived in the area and wanted a Campdraft, $180 might not be a bad price for no wait. It's the cost of convenience. (notice the big IF)

I think $180.00 is a very fair price for the Campdraft at a brick and mortar store in the USA. If I lived close enough to stop by and try the hat on and look it over for any imperfections then the extra cost would be worth it to me.

If I'm just going to buy one online and have it shipped to me then I would buy it from HatsDirect or EverythingAustralian. Whenever possible, I use HatsDirect because they have always been great to work with for me. I'm in between sizes and they will actually go back and look through their stock and find me a larger 59 or a smaller 60. Trudi and the other girls that work there have been great to me.

Good for you Fed.
Sam is top notch and he will treat you right.

I took your advice and ordered from Sam at Everything Australian. Our correspondence was prompt, cordial and quite professional. So far, he is what people have described and the wait will not harm me.

I cannot see paying twice as much (I reread the message from Gigi - her Campdraft price was actually $199 with no mention of shipping) for a CD. I now wish that I had just gone ahead and bought another color while making the order from EA. Now, that's a thought...

So the production of a black CD has withered on the vine. I will let Sam know not to pursue it any further as the demand is not there presently. Thanks to those who spoke up either yay or nay.

If someone else wants to gather a group for the taupe fawn or maybe the Akubra bran shade in 2 5/8' feel free to jump in.
