Not sure where to post this but I came across two AM marked 1940 wooden brushes at the weekend. They are quite unusual being long (17 inch) convex curved pure bristle brushes – they are narrow (about 1 and a half inches) and have a maker marked Burrows and 1940 with the AM and crown. They have round turned handles with a hole at the end for a piece of string. The wood is unvarnished and they are in excellent condition.

Would these be coat brushes? I assume they were issued as part of an airman’s kit. Any ideas?

sounds like a hat brush.

Thanks but they are longer than this and the concave shape is like a violin bow not curved as in this picture you posted.
