Haiti gave the US $36K for Katrina - that they could badly afford.

Save the Children at savethechildren.org, or call 800.728.3843.

Doctors Without Borders at doctorswithoutborders.org, or call 888.392.0392.

Mercy Corps at mercycorps.org, or call 888.256.1900.

American Red Cross at redcross.org, or call 800.733.2767. You also can text "HAITI" to "90999" to give $10 charged to your cell phone bill.

Don't forget the Salvation Army. They're up to their necks in it too.

I think the previous post was about Cladrite, who was donating a portion of his proceeds to the cause. If you're on face book, he's posted something about it there as well.

I have an uncle who says he was a Colonel in the Salvation Army. They kicked him out though because he tried to lead an attack on Goodwill.
Bad joke, bad joke...

It was a difficult decision, but the thread was removed. This is consistent with long-time Lounge policy. We don't leave threads soliciting charitable donations. We should probably add it to the FAQ. There have been many posted, and promptly removed so you rarely see them. We've removed solicitations for everything from a relative's cancer benefit fund to large, national charities. It is a very difficult thing to do every time. But we behind the bar have agreed that it is less distasteful to remove such threads than to be placed in the position of having to decide what stays and what doesn't as so many strong emotions are always involved.
We ask for your understanding. There are now countless places on the web to find information that will allow you to contribute to the relief effort for what is an absolute and horrifying human disaster in Haiti. We strongly urge those who wish to contribute to do so via those venues.
