Isn't there a movie, loosely based on H.P. Lovecrafts "At the mountains of madness", that starts with a norwegian scientist shooting one of his own dogs, only it is not his dog but a terrifying shapeshifting entity from antother world!?

Would that be John Carpenter's remake of The Thing?

That's the one! Seems like he was even more inspired by good old Lovecraft in "in the mouth of madness" though.

Anyway, the copper in question might have seen these movies one to many times!

There has been a small outbreak of “zombism” in a small town near the border of Laos in North-Eastern Cambodia.

The culprit was discovered to be mosquitoes native to that region carrying a new strain of Malaria which thus far has a 100 percent mortality rate and kills victims in fewer than 2 days.
