Aero Windward in FQSH, Vicenza or Goatskin

Dear all,

i do have a lot of Aeros with me, but no one in Goatskin. And i do not have a Windward. So my idea was, to combine both "not have´s" in 1 jacket and ordering a Aero Windward in black goatskin and brass hardware.

But i´m unsure if goatskin is the "right" hide for the Windward. My first impression is, that a windward needs to be a HH or SH, thick and stiff.

What do you think (beside the fact, that i can do what i want and being the first person on the planet with a Windward in goatskin)

goatskin can be thick and stiff, just depends on the tannage.

Aero's goatskin is pliable but pretty substantial, more so than some steer and horse hides I've had.

You can see in this old ad that Montgomery Ward sold goatskin versions of their jackets at a 24% premium over the horsehide versions. So not only is it accurate, but it was the premium option.

I think the decision should be based on your personal preference. Based on my experience most jackets work with most leathers and it's more likely a subjective decision in the end.

Some guys prefer softer leather, some guys want the jacket to fit like a tank.

Important is:
What is your preferred leather concerning other jackets so far? Which jackets are you wearing most (i.e. the ones that you feel comfortable with) and on the other hand: which jackets stay most of the time in your closet only to see the mirror once in a month. Most people have a preference, at least when it comes to wearing jackets. I had dozens of nice jackets I never used to wear, though the leather was great. The key is to find patterns and leather that not only fits your eye, but the feeling on your body.

Originality aside, goatskin would not be an option for me.
