Aero Wait times.

Hi All,

Anyone else found that their wait time for an order has blown out? I ordered a 42-18772P A2 in Seal Vincenza two months ago and was advised a wait time of 6-8 weeks which is what I expected and was happy with. I then emailed them about a month ago to see if we were looking good for the initial due date.
Was advised "all good" and would be another 3 weeks. This took me up until last week but I didn't hear anything. This is not a big deal as I understand things happen and it my not quite be complete. I emailed them again earlier this week to get a better idea of dispatch date so I can empty the piggy bank and have everything set to go. My response was that the jacket will be another 7 weeks!!!!

I'm a bit miffed on two fronts, firstly I appear to be back at square one with the wait time and secondly, I had to contact them to find this out. I'm also considering cancelling my order.

Surely when shelling out the fat end of 700 pounds (when I factor in postage and Aus duty) on a jacket I might expect as a courtesy to be kept in the loop with delays?

Hi Gary,
Firstly I apologise about the wait you have experienced, your particular jacket has been held up whilst waiting for Seal Vicenza to come back into stock, this arrived yesterday so we are now clearing the backlog of seal orders. Yours being an A2 we have 1 machinist specialising in flight jackets but aim to have it ready in approx 2 weeks.
I really don't know why you would have been told another 7 weeks? I can only think it might have been a typo ?
During the busier winter period we have experienced a slight increase in wait time In some cases up to almost 12 weeks due to a very full order book and also waiting for various leathers to be restocked from tanneries. This wait time should now be coming back down to approx 8 weeks.

I ordered my A-2 on the 25th of January and received it on Monday. Was advised at first that it would be somewhere between 2 and 3 months, but seen I was in contact with Holly almost every week (and I will never thank her enough for her patience to answer all my questions and for her great advises), I knew about the progress. That's all that mattered to me, not the delay, but to know about it.

And to be fully honnest, it was WELL worth the extra couple days! This jacket is stunning!

Now as stated before, I know they have TONS of emails and orders, so yeah, it might take a couple days to answer. And it seems like a more than reasonable delay to me, with this volume of correspondance.

Be patient, you won't be disappointed!

No. Seriously. An ETA is an ETA, no promised time of delivery, don't take it as one. There can always come up things that delay production for a bit. A few weeks off the initial ETA is perfectly normal and certainly no reason to cancel your order.

Yep. And it's all relative. Imagine if the ETA was 2 years, Kranky Gaz. Or never, how long it will take me to get my perfect jacket.

If you want long wait times, try the infamous Lawless Denim (6 months, then never and lose all your money), or Ciano Farmer (4 months and rising), both for simple jeans.

After the storse debacle and the traitrous mass exodus, Aero's wait time was about 6 months, but now they're almost down to impulse buy levels.

From speaking to a couple top end makers and from watching the 'jacket' boards, it seems this is sort of typical when it comes to the Italian leather and it's various tanneries. They are very, very old school. No email communication and barely speaking anything other than Italian.
Reading between the lines, it seems to me that they have been surprised by this surge in demand for their leather. Especially with the specific specs that they are now being asked to produce. Plus the tanning process and the suitable skins for it are on a natural timeline, not a Swiss watch style mechanical one.

It's certainly not fun to wait but man is it worth it. I thought I was going to burst while waiting for my bootlegger but when it arrived all that overanticipation seemed silly. In part, at least for me, the heightend anticipation comes from hoping I didn't blow the specs. But with my current order in, knowing exactly how it will fit, that crazy anticipation isn't so bad. All good jackets come to those who wait.

There is one sure-fire way to beat the wait-times: opt for one of the less popular manufacturers. If nobody else wants one, you could probably have a jacket in a fortnight.

Hopefully the supply issue can be sorted with the Vicenza; it's lovely stuff ,and it would be a shame if Aero stopped donig it because of enhanced waiting times.

In a strange way the anticipation of the arrival almost, and I stress ALMOST, eclipses the actual opening of the box. It's like pouring a pint in a frosty mug, looking at it you know it's going to be so damn good and that first sip is the pinnacle. Enjoy the jacket man. And savor the flavor of the next couple weeks. It's the closest thing to being a kid, when school lets out, right before Christmas.

I read something years ago that the anticipation of many things is more exciting and gratifying than the actual arrival.
Food, Christmas, music, etc were all mentioned. I have always believed it.
Hence shopping has become an acknowledged addiction.

Conversely there's also joy in selling and giving away jackets. Had over 20 leathers. Now I have 2. Simplifies my life. Made some $ too. I've almost gotten addicted to moving things on. Someone else said here (was it Butte?) there's a burden in having possessions. Especially when there's too many.
