Aero Teamster sizing question..

What is the general consensus on sizing a Aero Teamster.. Is it one size down your regular jacket size or two sizes down? The few threads that this jacket is mentioned, there is no mention on how to size these..

Posting some pictures of the Teamster I found online as the color on this jacket is amazing.

I have a 42" chest, relatively short torso in relation to my 6'2" height, and have long arms. My Teamster is a size 42 with 28.5" back length and 27.5" sleeves. It is FQHH and lined with moleskin in the body shell and cotton drill in the sleeves. Hope this helps. My advice: Go with Aero's recommendation on sizing.

Are you looking at a new made to order, or is it used? If new, send your measurements in, then it won't matter what the number on the tag says.

I am looking to get something used.. That way I don't lose much if I end up not liking how it fits me and I need to sell it..

Since you live in the US, you will save yourself a lot of grief if you contact Insurrection, have them ship you a fit jacket(s), and then adjust your sizing accordingly when you place an order with them.

I usually take a size 40 in regular jackets. My 40 teamster is perfect for layering, with just a t-shirt its big but with a a thick sweater underneath its perfect. Thats exactly what I was going for. When I first emailed Carrie at insurrection they advised a 38 would give a good fit, when I explained it was for layering they said I could probably get away with either, tbh for a winter jacket, I'm glad I went the 40. So I guess it depends if its a winter jacket for you or not...

If buying on the resale market beware the custom jacket! Ask for measurements and check them carefully against a jacket that you know fits you. I found a beautiful ANJ 4 Eastman, hardly worn, in the lovely fleece they used to do. All dimensions seemed fine until I checked the arm length, at least three inches longer than my corresponding B3, the guy must have been a gorilla.

Here are a couple pictures of me wearing the jacket that my friend bought and was a little too big for him. The more I am looking at the pictures, the more I seem to like the fit of the jacket except that I am afraid the sleeves are a tad short and will only get shorter once the wrinkles set in.

What say? Should I buy it from him or go custom with Thurston Bros for a Aero Sheene.

I know a lot of guys here like longer sleeves but these don't look "short" , just not as long as a lot of guys here prefer. But as you mentioned, they haven't wrinkled yet....its a tough one.

It fits great on you but if there is anything I have learned, if there is a particular niggle about a jacket....its not going away...EVER.

Having said that, most of us here will probably say to keep this AND get a Thurston Sheene ....or Board Racer.... or all three lol

One in the picture looks fine overrall. Sleeves are borderline... I agree they don't look wrong now, but if they lose an inch when they "ride up with wear", they might look off. If they feel wrong, though, they'll never be quite right.... That does niggle. I recently spent an extra forty quid having a new suit's arms taken up by an inch, because these things do matter when you wear it day in, day out... How good a jacketl ike this looks is in large part to do with fitting well...

On the fit front, I'd think about how the jacket is designed. A lot of folks on here over the years have said they wanted to or did size down in a Highwayman or one of these slightly longer jackets to get a neater fit. Thing is, that jacket is designed to be boxy. That's the point - it'll never be quite right of you go "too small" to get one that is a closer fit. If the "correct" size isn' as close in the body as you like, I'd be looking for a different jacket to start with. That all said, looks like you're sorted in this front - the one in the photo is definitely your size; if you can figure out what you're happy with on the arm length, then order that.

It looks close to unworn, so the sleeves could wrinkle up with a potential loss of up to 0.5" in length, which would leave it too short for my taste. YMMV

That's a beautiful jacket. I need some help. I'm thinking of picking up a Teamster and wonder what y'all think about the following ideas:
- Adding pockets from the Half Belt Deluxe
- asking that the width of the collar be reduced. It seems wide to me.
Thoughts anyone?
