Aero Teamster Modifications

I'm thinking of purchasing an Aero Teamster. I need some opinions: Has anyone placed added Half Belt Deluxe pockets? How would that work/look? Also, to my mind the collar is too wide. What about asking that the collar be narrowed? Thoughts anyone?

That pic was taken when it was new but have so many jackets that none of them will ever be broken in except for the Aero Bronco A-2 that was already broken in when I bought it. :D

That's a beautiful jacket. Yes, you've got a point. I love things that improve with age - and that's exactly what will happen with your jacket.

Fanch, I read the thread about full corduroy lining. In the end what was your take? Your in Texas, right? I'm in California, how do you think it would work in our climate?

What part of CA, Thomas? I live in the SoCal desert, and anything besides the lightweight tartan I have in my Teamster would be pretty hot. Frank

The teamster is on of my fave jackets. The only mod I would consider and hav seen do e, is to remove the action back. Other than that, I just think it's a lovely fairly simple design, with a couple of nice details, like the yolk etc. A beautiful. Jacket as is in my opinion. Plus, less room for error and disappointment.

I love the simple design and touches of Fanch's jacket. Pity I don't need another brown jacket. Could use a decent "car coat" though and the Teamster would certainly fill the bill.

I had my Stockman made with pockets from the long half belt, I really like it, I got the idea out of the old sears catalogue, in my opinion it has a nice vintage look.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your opinions - that's why I'm asking in this forum. (I've never done this before.) I've been talking with Jenny from Thurston Bros and recently Denny from Aero. Both say this modification hasn't been done but is possible and "could be interesting". I agree with one post (I'm sorry I don't recall who it was) who advised to not make the modification would be less risky (I'm paraphrasing) as well as with Fanch who suggests that I shouldn't mess with an outstanding style. A bit of a traditionalist? All good. Davy, I live in Sacramento now, though I'm a transplant from LA - and was born in Texas.
The modification continues to intrigue me. I would love to see you Stockman with the pockets if you can spare a pic or two.
Please keep your opinions coming. I'm all ears.

Aero in the Lauder era was very open to all sorts of customisations, with no extra charge; with Ken and the Caulders back in the big chair, they were initially not keen at all, though now do the occasional mod - which you'll need to pay for if it costs them more (fair enough, really.... we'd all love to get it for free, but in the lnog run it's no way to run a business) - if it'sc something they're happy with, and if they reckon it works or could be interesting. They're very mindful that what goes out their door will be worn by someone and be seen as representative of the brand, and as such they're not afraid to say no if they wouldn't be happy with it. Absolutely fair enough. If Denny is prepared to greenlight it, I'd take that as a vote of confidence in your design. As a general rule, the only thing I would say would be have a good look at all the models that are close to the one you fancy and be sure that the mods you're looking at wouldn't in fact be better served by buying one of those other models to begin with.

Thomas - Sacramento gets cold enough for the cord lining, or the alpaca even. My suggestion, as a Teamster owner, is avoid the cotton drill sleeve lining if you can, it can be a real bear to feed sleeves through. I like my lightweight wool tartan lining, but it rarely gets much below 40 degrees where I live. BTW - I came from Texas originally as well. Different world. Go through Insurrection if you can to ensure the best fit. Good Luck to you, Frank.
