Aero Tartan lining search...

When the forum switched to it's new format, all of my links to threads showing the different tartan linings I liked on Aeros got mixed up. When I go to one of those threads I've saved I'm likely to end up in the hat section.

Some time back somebody posted a photo of their new Aero with a purple tartan lining. I believe it was called "Scotland Forever" ...or some such.
Can anybody link me to that thread so I can be sure of the tartan name?

Also..I believe I saw a photo of an Aero with a purple hued sleeve lining...Gaberdine? Satin?
Anyone supply links to that thread?

Just a quick shot in the office, hope that helps. The comination of the olive garbadine and the purple satin looks quite nice and very significance.

Lochcarron supply Aero with the tartan there are 500 to choose from on the web site, you will find a link on Aero's front page leather links.

Will Aero work with any Tartans from another company? Locharron does not make a tartan of my family name (other companies do), and I am looking for something much thicker than what Aero normally uses.

Blethook supplied a bundle of materials to Aero for his non-leather Barnstormer, and they assembled them into a jacket. So I'm pretty certain that they'd accept a bolt of tartan for the lining.

It might be worth speaking to Amanda first to ask how much material would be needed, and whether they have any advice on the weight to use.

Locharron makes tartans in three weights: Reiver (10 oz.), Braeriach (13 oz.), and Strome (16 oz.). Aero will use any of these in their jackets, but does anyone know which weight Aero standardly uses?

I know several people have remarked that their wool linings are not that warm. I am wondering if they have the lightweight (10 oz.) lining. (Although I also wonder how much warmer a 16 oz. lining would be.)

My King of the Road was lined with Reiver Black Stewart. I didn't request a particular weight so I'd imagine they use the lightest weight fabric as standard? It's about as heavy as a Pendleton but the weave isn't quite as dense. My new Aero has a heavy tweed lining which is much warmer and probably about twice as thick. Some pictures of both:

I'm ordering an Aero FQHH Highwaymn or 50's half belt soon. I want a heavier interior. Suggestions? I love both of those above.

I've only had my Tweed-lined 50's Halfbelt a month, so I'm not sure how it'll be in the Spring/Summer, but I prefer it to the Tartan.

In my experience of the two, the Tweed is warmer and more durable but also thicker and more coarse/itchy. The Tartan is quite smooth and lightweight but not as warm or durable - high friction areas were starting to thin after about a year.
I've seen about 3 different types of Aero Tweed: A cream speckle (Donegal?), dark brown/blackish speckle and my Herringbone type (Amanda referred to it as a "greenish one"). The Tartan of course comes in many beautiful patterns!

It's lovely. That looks to be my fave as of now. Any pix of yours I can drool over? Which hide did you get?

I have the Donegal tweed in an Aero '30s HalfBelt. In my opinion it is heavier (but soft) and much warmer than tartan..or even Alpaca wool lining. It is a cream colored speckle.

Thank you too. I'm torn now on he half belt. Fur or no fur collar. I like the look of the fur better, but being in California, maybe it limits me?

Here is the only other Aero tweed I have seen - which, incidentally, is in a tartan pattern.

Is there anywhere I may see the other Aero tweed offerings?
