Aero suede jackets

I'm toying with the idea of getting a suede jacket from Aero. Does anyone have any experiences with either the Goat Suede off the new college jacket or the Bovine suede from their Jean Jacket?

The goat suede is really nice. It's similar to the original vintage style, which is unusual because it is two-sided, the back of it is properly tanned, so it means that the collars are hard wearing - the idea being that back in the day, a suede jacket was a luxury item, so having the smooth tanned back in high wear areas helped to extend the life of it.

These were Ken's sample designs. Gotta say, I like the russet one in particular. You don't see that shade very often.

As much as I absolutely adore the look of the suede, I worry about its longevity (probably no reason to realistically), because it's been/being discussed. I'd think of ordering a jacket in this as a secondary, rather than my first/only Aero. Gosh I love it though.

I suspect any of those jackets would outlive most of us, particularly me! That russet is especially nice.

Sloan, is the suede stuff like the other Aero leathers or more like a "regular" suede?

Exactly. I used to love suede . . . until I discovered HH jackets. Now, I prefer the more robust/hearty feel of HH, as compared to the "regular" suede that I previously enjoyed. However, the Aero suede depicted in the above photos looks considerably more robust/hearty compared to "regular" suede. A robust suede is a very interesting option.

It struck me that it's a finer, less shaggy suede, almost nubuck-ish in finish. I had (and still am) considered a Rockafella in it. That or the black goat. I just worry as I'm hard on the cuffs of my jacket.

Might have been a little more, but not that I remember thinking it was significantly so, otherwise it would've lost the attractive soft drape suede has.
