Hey there,
I’m new in the forum and after reading quite a lot of your threads (thanks) I ordered in the end of march a “mid long” stuart, with following spec.:

medium Stuart “27,5”, one piece back, with a curved V-yoke back ,

Details:

Size 6`1.5 , weight constant 170 – 175 lbs,

Chestsize (T-shirt) inhaled 40,5 exhaled 39

Stuart style,
Heavy Front Quarter Horsehide, max. grained, (dark) brown,

based on the
-- slimmer 1930s halfbelt pattern --,
front:
-- 5 button front,
-- no breast pocket,

-- two handwarmer pockets, just a little bit slanted,
handwarmer pockets lined with dark moleskin, if not
. possible with brown corduroy,
-- two M422a style, vertical inner pockets, located in the
. facing, (gabardine lining),
-- throat latch with buttons, (2 positions quite wide ),
-- front minimum longer than back, (1930´s cut),
-- sleeve length 27,5, American cuffs,leather lined,
. true two piece sleeves, like on the HG-5,
-- side adjusters, d-rings, hight: mid of the handwarmer pockets,

backside
- - back length “27, 5”,

-- one piece back with curved yoke.- (one solid back panel, plus
. upper part with curved yoke (a little bit stronger curved .
than on a Highwayman),

-- “1,5” inch corduroy facing for the inside bottom hem,

-- entire jacket top stitched with olive drab thread,

-- jacket fully lined with olive Gabardine,
-

After a lot of emails the order changed to a “warmer”, slimmer version (armpit “23, back length “27, hand-warmer-pockets lined with brown corduroy), with tweed lining and moleskin under brown cotton drill (looks and feels like nice grey-olive gabardine) sleeves. I love their storm cuffs, so I couldn´t get satin (it´s too weak) in the sleeves. No “outer” cuffs - the combination (slim) 2 panel sleeves with double lining- would be quite slim.
Got the result four weeks ago, I´m deeply impressed, take a look!!

Really nice. I'm tempted by a Stuart too. Interested as to how you find the tweed lining in practice. I'm wary of opting for a lining that's too warm in a short leather jacket lest I limit the time it can be worn too much. When it gets really cold, I'd rather a shearling or something longer in wool; too heavy a lining limits potential use in milder weather. Be interested to hear your experience with the tweed, as I really like both the look and how durable I imagine it to be.

That looks superb! I particularly like how they've made the throat latch with the two buttons.

Looks good Augustus!
Aero's FQHH is so unique...and just ages beautifully. I think you also picked out a perfect pattern and color lining to go with the brown hide. I'm so glad that I ordered a 'Stuart' as my last Aero jacket. It has a different classic look..perhaps a little dressier than some others. I plan on wearing mine quite often as the weather gets cooler here in midwestern USA. Great choice!

HD I still don't believe that is your "last" Aero. Augustus your Stuart looks really good. The options are well thought out. I know you will enjoy it.

Hello and welcome!

That's a great jacket you've got there, packed with loads of cool details. I like the lining and the back design very much. Glad you've opted for the corduroy stripe on the bottom hem. Overall a very well thought out "first jacket".
The fit is very good as well! Now on to dry denim, western shirts, goodyear welted work boots and some cool belts!!!;)

This jacket is Epic. I think its one of the coolest I have seen in a long time.
x The color is amazing
x The lining is so beautiful and so smart choice
x The yoke is very beautiful and graceful but at the same time a punch in the face cool :D

I have thought a long time about getting a 1930 halfbelt without the belt and getting a straight yoke but was a little afraid that it would look too bare,
you picture shows that it works very well, but that a curved yoke might also be an option.

Thank you for the pics.

Hi, and welcome to the forum, augustus18.

You did your homework well. That is a beautiful jacket  . I've admired the Stuart since it first appeared; yours is very well executed. The detailing you chose is perfect. So is the fit. Thanks for the pics, and enjoy the breaking in and wearing of your new jacket.

Hi augustus 18,

Welcome to the Lounge. That is a grand jacket - it just looks perfect. And I agree with Griff that it is the best I have seen in a while. You did your homework! I, too, think it was a good idea to add the corduroy facing hem (and I suppose it saved some money, as opposed to a horsehide hem).

Just curious, what size is posted in your jacket? 38? 40?

Thanks for the reply. I am still in awe of your jacket. I hope mine will be as nice.

I reread your description of your jacket and noticed that you chose moleskin under cotton drill for the sleeves. How do you like it? Did you choose moleskin over alpaca because it is not as warm, or because it is tougher (or something else)?

Hallo Philalethes,
thanks for your reply,
sleeve lining: It should be warm, tough, still slim with storm cuffs. Amanda and Jeff meant moleskin would be less bulky compared to alpaca. It was a great proposal-there are no movement restriction.

Hope the best about your "stuart", it will be a great "aero"!
Have a "curved Radjacke" on order; details will follow.
