Aero Stitching Problem? Advice Needed

Carrie is already on the case and will figure something out for me. Like I said, I feel bad for making her do more legwork for Aero's QC here. Nonetheless, I'm still very glad I went through her to get my jacket. Will update the thread down the line when this gets resolved

The holes are noticeable from a foot away, not a magnifying glass, so wouldn't really call it OCD. I do not expect perfect stitching whatsoever, but I expect my $1200 jacket not to have a bunch of missed hole punches in multiple places along with missed stitching? I didn't even mention, there is a bunch of crooked stitching, none of that really bothers me because again, I really don't expect anything close to perfect stitching. I just expect my jacket to come to me fully stitched and without a bunch of extra punch holes in my pricey italian leather that I paid a premium for.
The mark on the shoulder, the missed hole (probably ran out of thread, an “oh shit” moment for a maker), are cause for QA rejection or discount. The cuff holes could have been masked by more carefully aiming at the same holes but then the stitch line will be wonky, but technically, a wonky stitch line is a lesser concern than open holes, many vintage jackets have imperfect stitch lines and it does not affect integrity of seam, just an aesthetic thing, but an open hole let water in and does affect integrity of the nearby leather material in the long run. As for the button hole, it’s done by an automated machine and since the cuff is a small piece of material, as soon as they saw the missed part, they could have discarded and remade the cuff. On the other hand though, the butthole imperfection is not a concern for the integrity, technically, a “eyelet button hole” can be punched with a die/puncher, without needing any sewing, those needle holes are no good for leather

You're doing the right thing, getting this with Carrie. Those are some direct issue and hopefully it will be correct to your satisfaction. That half-belt was really nice in terms of stitching, and at the price point, it should be quite good, to excellent.

Also I believe Aero is still formally closed, but they may be responding to e-mails.

Yep Carrie did a great job adding more stitching to the button hole stitching. There is a decent amount of crooked stitching on the jacket and I don't even really mind it too much, I now know what to expect, however the extra punching really is a bit unsightly

Very glad to have the halfbelt to wear while this one is away!

I am assuming this is auto-correct...;)
What I mean here is that the cuff usually stay buttoned, you won’t be playing around the buttoning and unbuttoning, and even if the hope gets manipulated, that slit is not going to expand, leather is not a fraying material, and let’s say that little bit of connection formed by the two needle holes break apart, you still have a button hole of pretty much the same size and not weight/stress bearing. In short, a much much lesser issue than those needle holes on the cuff/wrist level, you know what I mean

Every aero jacket I’ve seen including mine had all of the same issues or worse than op. Didn’t really bother me but everyone is different. Aero shouldn’t have these problems at their price point but they do and always have. BTW, My $500 Vanson and G&B have better stitching than Aero.

This. Truth. Though it does bother me with Aero given the price point but it is was it is

So sorry about this - obviously this shouldn't have gotten past quality control! You said you've spoken with Carrie about this? In which case she'll be in touch with us, but if I've picked that up wrong please do email me directly and we'll get this sorted - holly@aeroleatherclothing.com.

Our sincerest apologies for this!

Hi Holly, thanks so much for the message. Carrie just got back to me saying a replacement jacket would be made. I really appreciate the excellent service. I'm still happy I went with Aero for my first jacket. Thanks again for reaching out!

For reference see the cuff switching at the cuffs of a Himel shinki cafe racer, a $2,200 - $2,400 jacket. Two or three years ago I most likely would not have noticed the switch but after reading recent discussing on jacket switching on the FL I looked at the switching after receiving the Himel jacket. Himel jackets are priced double what an Aero jacket is priced and his work has been praised by some experienced and heavy contributors on FL. The other jackets I have with similar cuff switching are two vintage Buco jackets
