If you size down to a 40, and the final result is too tight, you will not be a happy camper. A jacket a bit too big will make you smile :) but one a bit too small ... :(:p Proceed with caution.

I agree, better be looser than not beeing able to zip it up if i eat too much popcorn. Here's a daylight pick

Thanks for your help guys. I have carefuly rear every post and had a long talk with Carrie at TB. I prefer a little more relaxed fit and may layer a few shirts under the jacket for obvious reasons you see in the background. I will stick with the 42 without shoulder gussets. Once broken in, i think the rear 'pooffyness' will be less apparent. It is a very confortable jacket and i feel good in it, that's what its all about.

Solid decision!

Looks like a solid plan to me, particularly without the shoulder gussets that should smooth out the excess in the back/shoulders. A relaxed fit is not a baggy fit. If I were going with a heavier hide, brown FQHH would be my #1 choice. As I recall, brown FQHH was your selection?

Yeah, i chose a Sheene in brown cx fqhh without shoulder gussets
No internal pocket cuz that bulge was bugging me
Top back yoke
2 zip up handwarmer pockets
2 angled breast pockets
No kidney belt
Antique brass zips zipper pulls??
Liner ? Something for 4 seasons with some flash

A tumbled FQHH would be a good medium. It's an easier wear and break-in but has the heft of the FQHH - it also comes with a great grain.

Yeah its beautiful i have sample.
I laid the 9 samples out and my wife went with the brown cx fqhh. Lol

I'm going to ask for darker and grainier than average if there is such a thing.

Yes, I asked about that, i'm waiting for a reply but it doesn't bother me that much, here what i added before

Ok, so if I go with a 40 instead of that 42 the shoulder width will go down by .5 inches (across the top of the shoulders), the chest width will reduce by 2 inches (total circumference) and the waist/torso will reduce by 2 inches (total circumference). The waist/torso can be half sized to only 1 inch smaller.

There is also the 42 board racer sheene, the shoulders would shorten 1.5 inches and 2.5 inches in the chest. What i was told is that the front would look the same but the rear would be much less baggy.

IMHO, the shoulders are too large. Can you customize the body/waist to be larger on a smaller sized jacket?

Agreed! If you are happy with the fit at the bottom, ask them if they can either make the shoulders smaller or start from a size down and open up the waist a little. Droopy shoudlers will always look droopy, even after break in, and removing the gussets won't help much.
