Aero Real Deal A2 fit pic

Hi all,

So I just got an Aero Real Deal size 42 in from a bloke who wasn't all that pleased with the fit of his new creation. Now I'm trying to make sure I'm sufficiently pleased as well.

It's definifely à relaxed fit, but I think that's the cut. Because she shoulder, sleeves, and length seem pretty good. Only worry is that I've got too much leather flapping around in the back.

FYI, this is my first time even touching a proper A2.

The last shot really captures the dilemma. Lotta leather back there.

Looks like a good fitting jacket to me.
The bottom rear material in the one pic looks excessive but the hem is ridingbup. Perfect front

I once bought an A-2 that was slightly too large. Sent it back because there was too much leather in the way as you say. Yours isn't so bad, some people in WWII worn them even larger. Then again, it's up to you what fit you wanna go for. I prefer trimmer jackets but that's subjective. What is you height and chest measurement?

I've never been a huge fan of jackets with knits, especially at the hem. More often than not they create a balloon effect and it's just not flattering to have all that excess material at the waist. To me these jackets look best when worn super trim but I understand that might not be desirable to everyone or "historically accurate" the latter being something I've never cared to recreate.

Front looks good, but the back looks like it has too much room.
Check the front pit to pit, and compare with the back pit to pit. They should be pretty close, with the back a bit wider... but not too much.

I don't hate the way that fits you.. there is always room in your wardrobe for a jacket that fits like that. If you did'nt spend a lot for it i would keep it even though you may not love it.
The leather looks nice and I like the color.

If you read the posts here over the years the 42 contract has been described as "baloony" in fit by several members. But also, it looks like you just need to pull the back down a little. I'd keep it.

Well this is a pretty strong 50/50 split, maybe a bit closer to 60/40 on the big side. I guess it just comes down to the jacket cut.

So I measured the jacket and the pit to pit is perfectly semetrical on front and back. Also it is measured precisely as was advertised.

P2P 22.75 front and back

Shoulder 19

Sleeve 25

Length 25.5

These are basically the identical measurements on my Hooch Hauler, but the cut of the model apparently makes a big difference (surprise!) 1539364289528991.jpg 1539364399154134.jpg 1539364290239946.jpg 1539364290602256.jpg 1539364289968106.jpg

It is a beauty, though, I have to admit. I really like the graininess of the jerky HH.

Well within the ballpark of an accurate 'how they wore it' WW2 fit for the later (i.e. 1942/wartime) A2 contracts. Much closer than earlier A2 contracts also to the jackets styled after the A2 that civilians had access to from 1945-probably 1960. Personally not a fan of A2s that are very trim, but evne among people into 'vintage', different fits go in and out of fashion.

So I think I'm going to try to pass this one on. But I'm glad to have gotten my hands on another jacket to get a sense of what works for me.

I'd be interested to hear any thoughts about what model and/or sizing shifts other would recommend if I was looking for a trimer fit and generally more form flattering A2.
