Hi, I would like to get some feedback & fit/comfort info on these Premier jackets. Say let’s focus on the 1930 HB. I just want to know that if the new shoulder width & armhole poses any sense of restriction. The old 1930 has low armhole & “regular” width shoulder (for a size 40-44 it’s within the 19-19.75” range). Upward movement is limited. Now the shoulder looks narrower for the Premier, so did they increase the sleeve cap (the deltoid accomodation)? Does the jacket now feel tight around the shoulder? Or it’s somehow compensated & overall justmore like second skin than tight?

My premier half belt is a size 40. The shoulder length i believe is 17.5 to 17.75. The P2P is 21-21.5 and the hem is 20.5. It is snug in the shoulders and chest. I can Cross my arms but it is not that comfortable to do so. I’m not sure about the sleeve cap though. In comparison, my Aero seven/board racer is a size 40 with a shoulder length of 17.75 and a P2P of 21.5. It feels snug across the chest and shoulder but seems to have more mobility than my half belt. My most comfortable Aero jacket is my hooch hauler with a shoulder length of about 18.5 with a P2P of 22. It has similar armholes to my half belt but I have more mobility. In addition the sleeves on the halfbelt are slimmer than the hooch hauler, but my seven sleeves are slimmer than the halfbelt. Hope this helps.

Radz, thank you so much! So your feedback confirms my suspicion. The stiffer horsehide certainly contributes to the sensation of restriction, that aside, the engineering of a jacket is truly a mysterious feat. I’m sure most people here have experienced Gibson Barnes, which in my opinion build the most comfortable, ergonomic jackets. The runner up probably is Vanson. I have a 38 GB Civil A2, the 38 size is uncharacteristically small but it fits great! The pit to pit is 23”, shoulder width only 18”, but because of the deltoid (sleep cap), sleeveease, armhole, sleeve attchement, it feels like a second skin with unrestricted mobility. On the other hand a size 42 Aero (shoulder 19.25”, pit 23.75”) feels tight around the shoulder & upper chest as well as upper back (across the shoulder blades). Granted that the standard Aero line is loyal replication of historical patterns, when they announced the Premier line, I was thinking they had decided to stray from period accuracy & become more ergonomically oriented. Based on your feedback, it doesn’t sound like it’s quite comparable to GB yet.
